Wedding Photos from Guests

Danielle, on May 15, 2022 at 12:04 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 14

Hi! I was wondering how everyone was planning on obtaining photos from their guests. I just found out about "The Guest" from theknot.com and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with that free app. I would love any suggestions or thoughts. Thanks!

We are sharing a QR code that links to a DropBox. It seemed a bit easier than asking guests to download an app.

Nice! Was it confusing for the guests? Did you do a bunch of events (I.e. rehearsal, getting ready, etc) or just one event? Appreciate your feedback - thanks!

One of my friends did that as well at their wedding and I thought it worked out really well too! Wish I was more tech savvy, but like you said I feel like I would be really easy

Yeah, it takes less than 1 minute to make the album, and then you just copy and share the link. There's a bunch of how tos on google/YouTube but it is byfar the simplest

No one told me it was confusing. And, I think I only had to help one person during the reception. They had an option to print out detail cards and I put one on each table. I also included the Info on how to join the event in the details card of the invite. We had maybe 10 people use it and we got around 400 pictures. It’s was nice because family that wasn’t able to make were able to join the group and see pictures and videos in real time.
I did 3 events. Shower, rehearsal, and reception. I was going to do one for getting ready but decided not to.
I’m having a baby shower soon and I think I’m going to use it again.

Thank you for providing additional information - I am going to use it for the bachelorette and most likely for the other events as well! Did you send out the link by clicking people’s names and contacts in your phone/on the app, or only send out the link via copying? I imagine it’s the same concept, but it may be nice to do it your way, and you can give additional context/information about the app vs the template text message from “the guest”

Congratulations on the baby shower Smiley smile)

This is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing - I am definitely going to take your advice and copy/paste the link in order to give more context to what they are receiving and why - thanks!

I like your idea of the QR code too! I had downloaded The Guest, but I wasn’t so sure people would download another app and I didn’t love that it sent every photo. I think the QE code is a great idea! Thank you for sharing!

I've heard of guest apps from The Knot and WW, google drive links, QR codes, and some couples who will put their phone numbers or a wedding email address on cards at each table for guests to text/ email them photos.

DropBox and Google Photos requires guests to log in. I have been looking for a free website that will allow guests to upload photos without logging in or creating an account. I just found https://weduploader.com/ which is 100% free and guests do not have to log in. It will create a QR code for you and any photos that guest upload will be placed into your Google Drive.
