Wedding photographer/timeline help!

Lau’Ren, on December 4, 2019 at 7:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
We are in the process of reaching out to various photographer and we already have one in mind. Only problem is that his smallest package includes bridal portraits that I don’t want and is5 hours! We are having a small wedding with 30 people tops and an intimate dinner after so without bridal portraits I doubt we will need that much time. I also don’t want to waste money having the photographer just watch us eat dinner But I want to have pictures of us cutting the cake Smiley sad Can anyone provide guidance as to how we could set up the dinner timeline so that the we don’t waste money OR something else I haven’t thought of? Thanks y’all!

Have you asked him if he can create a bespoke package for you? That’s what we did. We told our photographer exactly what we wanted and she gave us a price.

That’s so exciting! I’m in June! I also am thinking of cutting back to 4 hrs, videography likely isn’t in the budget tho but I would like to inquire

Definitely talk to him about it and see if he can offer suggestions! For ours I knew I wanted engagement photos, welcome party coverage, minimum of 8 hours on wedding day, and 2 shooters. I didn’t care about albums or bridal portraits. And we also talked about how our wedding would flow and what time would be best to start etc.

So our photographer is having us cut the cake just for pictures as soon as we get to the reception. Like our entrance is at 535, cake cutting 545, prayer 550 dinner at about 6. She said it’s just for pictures and then we move on to the next thing right away.

That’s what I think I’m going to have to do too. It’s a lunch reception so hopefully it’s not too awkward. I’ve never actually seen it in person before

I haven’t either, but I’m okay with it since it’ll be out for people to see before we get there and she can get the photos and then we can dig in after dinner! Haha

All I'd the photographers we reached out too were willing to adjust a package to our needs! Dont frets until you chat with him! You've got this!

Joel Brantley at Mike Moon Studios..............

We're having a small wedding and reception. They were reasonable and understood our desire to have coverage, but not excessive and expensive.

I would just explain everything you want. a lot of packages include stuff you don't want or don't use. Like i wanted 2 shooters. i didn't need engagement or an album. we did 6 hours. they were there while everyone was getting ready, did our first reveals, then ceremony, reception and left right after cake. sometimes doing like an "ala carte" option works out better for you.

Yeah he quoted us $1700 for engagement shoot, and 5 hrs of footage plus bridal portraits but I only need 4 hours, engagement shoot and I want albums

Is he willing to sub album or some printed photos for an hour of time? i paid $1700 - but she was willing to sub out things from her individual menu that were close to equal price.

sometimes if you get all the copyrights you can create your own album for a good price.

I’m going to ask because that is a good idea! I never thought of just asking for a sub because I don’t find his prices to be that bad tbh ! Thanks for the idea
