Dedicated October 2021

Wedding photographer

I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I already have my photographer booked but when I booked them I didn't really know the different styles of photography. I was a bit behind on planning so I felt the need to hurry up and book vendors. Now that I've been able to see different styles of photography. I wish I would have went with someone else. Now don't get me wrong they have great work n ik the pictures will be beautiful its just a style thing. But I need advice ladies what would you do? Another thing i should add is my wedding is supposed to be this fall but we postponed it til ll next fall. N our photographer said they would work will our new date which makes this that much harder. I know if I cancel I'd loose my deposit. I was also thinking of having her do our engagement photos, but have someone else do the wedding? But idk how they'd take it/or if its even a possibility? Am I wrong to even ask this of them?

If you don’t like their style then I would see if you could do the engagement pictures. I’m just not sure if they’ll let you or give you your deposit back, especially if you signed a contract. It’s worth a try though!!😊

How much of a deposit would you lose and how much is the total cost of your current photographer?

Do you have a new photographer in mind already? Can you afford to lose the deposit on the current one?
Personally, for me, photography was one of the most important things. So I spent over a month researching and meeting with photographers before deciding on one. However, if I felt like I had made a mistake in my decision, I would have just ate the deposit and hired a different photographer. Although it would have sucked considering my deposit was 50%.

I do have another in mind. I'd lose $500. I'd hate to lose that obviously n I'd feel bad canceling on the photographer so idk what to do.

I think that is a great idea to ask them to just do your engagement photos, that way you get to see how it is like working with them and how those photos turn out

Yes a contract was signed n I wouldn't mind the engagement photos with my original photographer.

Honestly, I would just lose the deposit and hire the person you actually want. Your photos are what you’ll be looking back on for years to come. Also, your wedding is still quite awhile away (fall 2021) that your current photographer still has plenty of time to rebook that date. Considering all the postponements happening, I’m sure there are current brides looking to postpone to next fall that will book him/her.

How much is your deposit? If it’s not that much maybe think about giving it up and going with who you want. I don’t think it’d be a big deal to do your engagement shoot with them (to get your moneys worth for the deposit) then cancel. Cancel early enough on so they have time to fill your day with another client. Photos are seriously
One of the most important vendors for your big day so you need to love their work!

If you have doubt I would rebook. You can make more money but you can't redo the wedding pictures. Smiley smile

Hi! If you are doubting at all, rebook. It may cause you to loose a deposit which isn’t the best thing in the world but your wedding only happens once. The photos were the most important thing for my fiancé and I so we splurged on that aspect and made sure we loved our photographer. She did our engagement photos too so it helped getting to meet her and know her style of edits before our wedding photos! 🤍 good luck planning! just make sure you don’t settle 😊
