Wedding photographer problems

No contract means that you have no legal protection if they don’t uphold their end of the agreement. It is a major red flag to hire any vendor without a contract. Unfortunately I would consider it a financial loss at this point and look for a photographer you like and can afford who has a contract, which is the majority of vendors.

View Quoted Comment Any vendor can be located via Instagram for your area, Eventective.com or Yelp. The latter doesn’t allow vendors to pay to remove unflattering reviews so they are more honest. Many venues do not have preferred vendor lists of any kind and allow you to pick whomever you want. Not every couple uses Facebook to find vendors and not every vendor is on Facebook.

That's frustrating that she didn't meet her own deadline! I'd still give her another couple days as a grace period before reaching out again about the photos - she might have had a wedding to shoot this weekend, or may have been traveling, or had an usually busy week and just forgot, etc. If she still hasn't sent them by Tuesday or Wednesday next week, I would definitely contact her again at that time to find out the status of your photos. If possible, I would also try to get a contract written up and signed by both parties for the wedding photos and any other vendors you book, just so that you have some legal protection in case you run into issues later on with any vendors. I hope you get your photos soon!

Never hire someone without a contract. You’re asking for problems. I’ve never heard of an area where vendors don’t ask for contracts. I’d give it a week and then move on to someone else and consider it a loss. We found our vendors via instagram, google and through our vendor. Michelle was just being honest about the situation.
