Hello!

We got married in December 2020 with 6 others there.

We are having a big reception in June, we are wanting our bridesmaids and groomsmen but how do we ask?!

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Is there something you want from them or have you not already asked them?

    I guess I didn’t finish.
We want them to know they are important in our lives and I guess would like photos all dressed the same like a wedding party does.

Did you not have attendants at your elopement? Just ask them in a regular conversation

We just had my immediate family. They were the only ones able to make it.

Do you plan on having a ceremony because I think it would kind of be asking a lot for your bridal party to buy specific attire just for photos especially if you are going to want the girls to have their hair and makeup professionally?

No ceremony. Just a big reception. I’m not asking for expensive outfits, make up or hair.
I’m thinking a certain color and bridesmaids pick a shade for their dresses and the groomsmen wear a certain color shirt and nice jeans. Nothing expensive!

I'm not really sure how this would make them feel really important. Without some type of ceremony, I don't really see the point of a bridal party.

Simply ask them verbally via phone call, video chat or in person

Just ask them to be a part of your day. Explain to them what you would like to do and ask them to be involved in it.

You wouldn’t feel a little sad if one of your closest friends got married, had a reception and you were apart of it as someone important?
I would be sad. That’s why I’m making a point of doing this.

What I don't understand is how you would be making them a part of anything? The reception is literally just a party whereas the ceremony is where they walk down the aisle and stand by your side as you say your vows. Do you plan on having them do something specific/special at the reception other than just attending?
