Wedding party - who buys what?

I think the bride and groom should be in charge for the flowers. In my family and friends circle, we buy them everything for the wedding. From shoes, socks, attire, hair, flowers, and even pay the flights and hotel room.

I always thought it was the nuptials who paid for flowers

It’s customary for bridal party to purchase their attire, but flowers should absolutely be paid for by the bride and groom.

Hi Jessica, this is a very common question that comes up with a lot of brides. In the area I live in (Northeast) the etiquette is the bridesmaids pay their own dress and hair. Brides handle flowers and give a gift to each bridal party member as a thank you typically at the rehearsal dinner.
My Man of Honor and girls have helped me tremendously throughout my life so I did more than typical as a thank you. I gave gift cards for them to use towards their dress purchases, paid for my Man of Honors tux, paid for their hair appointments, and provided gifts.

It is the marrying couple’s responsibility to pay for the bouquets and boutonnières

The couple buys the florals. The groomsmen rent suits and women buy dresses and accessories.

No I think that is weird. Perhaps its different in different cultures - generally the bridesmaids buu their own gowns and groomsmen their own attire - anything extra, like hair and make up is usually expected for the couple to pay for. My bridal party paid for their own attire and their hair and makeup. The boutiniers, corsages and bouquets were a part of my floral package and I purchased them all.

I am taking care of dresses, makeup and hair. Jewelry, heels, etc..on their own.

Having them pay for their attire is common and usually expected, make sure to consult each bridesmaid individually about her budget so they aren’t paying for a dress they can’t afford.


As for flowers, usually the couple or whoever is paying for the wedding pays for them. I’ve never been in a wedding where my bouquet wasn’t paid for by the bride or her family
