Wedding party table vs sweetheart table

Lovely Mrs. B, on December 10, 2017 at 5:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 25

FH and I are trying to decide what we want to do for our seating. We are stuck and can't decide. It's too early to know yet if people in wedding party will bring dates and if they do they need to sit with their dates (none of them are in a relationship atm) I'm not sure how I would feel having people at the wedding party table that I do not know. So I'm leaning towards sweetheart table so that the wedding party can sit with other family and friends that are there. I'm just not sure about either idea. Any ideas?

We went with a sweetheart table and it was so nice to have a few moments just to ourselves. Also, IMO it is rude to separate people from their dates especially if they don't know anyone else at your wedding.

I don't want to be rude to our friends in the party, that's a main reason why I want it.

Sweetheart table. All of my BMs are married so it made more sense to have them at a table with their husbands. Plus we had 7 in each side so that would have been a really big table...

Like PP said, it also gives you a little time (and space) to have with your FS.

We did a sweetheart table. I agree with @BeachDreams, it was nice to have some time to ourselves. It was also nice to look out at our guests and see everyone having such a nice time.

You have so much time until you have to deal with this so just take a deep breath... We ended up doing more a kings table. We had two large farm tables pushed together with our wedding party and their dates. This is primarily because with the exception of my sister, everyone in our wedding party was married. It was nice because I would have felt a little on display at a sweetheart table and I did not this way.

We're doing a sweetheart table for the very reason you mentioned. At first I was sure I wanted a head table but then I thought more about it and FH made good points about our BP needing to sit with their families.

We are going with a sweetheart table. 2 of our groomsmen are engaged, 1 bridesmaid (my sister) has 4 kids who are not in the wedding. 1 bridesmaid is married. Another groomsmen has a gf. So it just makes more sense for them to be at tables with their family and loved ones then at a table with us. Plus i want to have a few minutes alone with FH

A sweetheart table will give you a few moments to talk to each other without others around.

We went sweetheart table and mixed our bridal party with other guests they knew, not just other members of the bridal party.

We're doing a sweetheart table. More intimate and our wedding party can sit with their SO's

We did a harvest table with our immediate family. It was really nice to be in the midst of our guests rather than them all staring at us. We had 20 people around the table and other guest tables all around.

I really liked having a King's table but everyone at the table were close friends or family. I wouldn't want random dates of the WP at that table frankly. So in your case OP, I think a sweetheart is a better option.

We only had a MOH and Best Man, but because of our hall layout it would have been awkward to have just a sweetheart table. We ended up doing a large head table that included our bridal party, their families, and our immediate families. It worked so much better with the space we had. That ended up being about 20 people. We were at our table for such a short time that we didn't at all feel like having people around kept us from having time to ourselves.
