Wedding party question!

Jodie, on May 31, 2019 at 12:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
One of my bridesmaids told me she can no longer be in my wedding. I now have two bridesmaids and my maid of honor. My fiancé has his best man and three groomsmen. My question is, is it ok to have uneven wedding parties for the wedding? I’ll have three he will have four.
Thank you!

Yes, an uneven wedding party is just fine.

Totally ok! I have 6 bridesmaids and a maid of honor and he only has 4 so were having the girls walk down the aisle alone.

Yes! Uneven is totally fine. It's actually more common in the weddings I've seen lately.

I think it'll be just fine. We have the exact same amount but I think it will look fine because the number is close enough.

That's ok. i personally don't want that uneven feeling but i think it's better to just leave it as is. i'd rather not add someone in just for the purpose of making it even.

One of my bridesmaids found out she was pregnant less than a month after I asked her to be in my wedding. Her due date is October 15th and my wedding is October 9th. She stepped down since she wasn’t 100% sure she’d be able to be there. Personally, I didn’t want to have an uneven number, so I asked my FH’s youngest sister (I adore her!) to take original bridesmaid’s place. She gladly accepted and wasn’t the least bit offended that she wasn’t chosen first, as she understands the original bridesmaid has been a friend of mine for a very long time.

My story aside, there is absolutely nothing wrong with an uneven party as long as you’re fine with it. Like I said, mine was just a personal preference and I already had his sister in mind originally anyway, so it worked out. 😄

Yes, perfectly fine to have uneven sides and looks more natural anyway. How many of us have the exact same number of best friends or close relatives as our partner? This is becoming very common now. I had 3 of my best friends and he had his brother. No big deal.
