Wedding Party & Parent Gifts — $$

Kaylee, on July 2, 2020 at 12:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
My FH and I are currently trying to decide on gifts for our wedding party and parents, and we just have no idea where to start.

Some details about our situation:
— We’re having a “destination” wedding (ATL to NOLA), so attendees are required to fly/make the 8 hour drive and book a stay, but otherwise we have gone above and beyond to keep costs for everyone involved as low as possible — tailor made BM dresses under $90, inexpensive GM suit rentals, wear-the-shoes-you-have kinda thing, & we’re helping cover room costs.
— We are paying for the wedding almost entirely ourselves, & buying a home this winter, so we can’t completely break the bank on gifts, but I’d rather give nothing than gift something “cheap”. Plus our parents have helped us SO much the past 4 years, I really want these gifts to be meaningful and make everyone feel genuinely appreciated (and not just give them another monogrammed cup/bag.)
I’m considering making earrings out of real gold hoops and precious gems for my bridesmaids, but that’s all I have so far, and it’ll only cost me about $100 for all 8 pairs.
Is there a standard price point for each of these gifts? How much should we spend on the parties, and how much on our parents?
And what are some super sentimental/out of this world gifts that you all have given?

I think its already sweet of you to make something for them - maybe you can align the gem to their birth stone?

There’s no standard price point, it’s whatever you can afford. I do think it’s standard to give a more expensive gift when they will be traveling for your wedding. Earrings sound like a nice idea for your bridesmaids as long as they all have their ears pierced and are into jewelry. I’m a big fan of photo albums for parent gifts and my mom absolutely loved hers. I gave her and my stepdad smaller gifts on our wedding day (handkerchief and tie patch) and gifted them a wedding album once we got our photos back.

I would go for sentimental gifts for your parents. Like PP photo albums, handkerchief, special tie, etc. For your BMs the earrings will be nice as long as it isn't something that they should wear for their wedding specifically and they all actually like to wear earrings/jewelry. You can personalize it a little more such as if they like coffee get them a small assortment of different coffees w/ a giftcard attached to their favorite coffee shop etc.
