Marie, on August 14, 2014 at 8:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Hi all- anyone have suggestions on the most cost effective place to buy kimono robes for my wedding party?

    My suggestion is to make sure they want them. Presumably you want them to be wearing them for pictures while you get ready, personally I would not be photographed in a robe.

    Not to discourage you but I don't get why this has become such a thing recently. If you're having an Asian theme to your wedding or it is part of your culture I get that but I wouldn't waste the money. I'm not doing anything for my girls to wear the day of. They can wear whatever they will be most comfortable in. I'm getting a "wifey" tee for myself but that is it.

    In checked out a few vendors be warned they aren't cheap. Singing slowly on etsy is one of my faves but after up charges it ended up being more cost wise to go with pretty plum sugar. My advice watch for coupons!

    Btw personally I love the robes! They are high quality and gorgeous and they can't wait to wear them for pics! I hope they enjoy wearing them at home

    I agree with Emmy AND Karen...I don't get it either and I wouldn't want to wear one if I was in a bridal party. Every one I stood up, I had the same kind of "getting ready" clothes on (as did the other girls and the bride)...yoga pants and a tank top (with a zip up hoodie if it was cold). There was an average of three hours from the time the prep started to the time we put on our bridesmaids dresses and once we were done getting purdy we lounged about with mimosas and bloody marys.

    I don't really think ANY bridesmaid wants to spend the morning in a kimono robe and only do it for the bride's photo op, which makes it similar to the jewelry you ask them to wear (if you do) in that its not really a gift but something you are requiring them to wear for part of the day

    Nice to know there are so many strong opinons out there. To confirm: it's not a 'cultural' thing for me, I'm not doing authentic kimonos- instead, solid colored robes. I think it's a cute and thoughtful idea and will be sure to do a pulse check with my chicas to confirm they agree. Thanks for the responses. Thanks for the suggestion 'Blue one 4'- I'll check that vendor out. Thank God for Etsy!

    Yeah I never thought about that. I wouldn't want to take pics in a robe either...

    These are where I am getting mine! Cheapest I found and they have great reviewsSmiley smile To save money, I am buying the robes plain and having a friend monogram for $2 each. I am saving like $10 a robe by doing that! Good luckSmiley smile

    I am getting my girls robes but they wont be printed or anything and I am making sure that they are solid enough to wear on a regular basis at home. They won't have to get ready in them unless they want to. But I ended up going with some I found at macys because I waited until the last minute but there seem to be some awesome vendors on etsy.

    @marie - here you go: https://www.etsy.com/listing/180632449/bridesmaids-robes-set-of-4-kimono

    Ive searched and she seems to have the best robes and the best price. Let m know how the final look comes out. I think they are beautiful and you dont need an Asian theme wedding. I will be using these for my wedding in Costa Rica.

    For kimono party robes, the best source is Amazon. There are plenty of kimono robes for a fraction of what it costs on other sites such as pretty plum sugar, personalizerobes or weddingprepgals.

    There is a comparative table I found online where you can check the top rated Kimono robes for your party with your friends. I suggest you look at this source before you buy any. Check it

    HERE.

    Hope this helps!

    I ordered my robes today at robemart.com. They were the best deals. They are satin and only for $7.99. I cross my fingers for the quality. I will let you know when I get them.

    My wife order customized silk robes from www.prettyrobes.com. She absolutely loved them! They were running a 50% sale that supposedly ends that day, but when we spoke to a rep. they were expecting the sale to run until the end of this wedding season.
