Wedding party gifts

April, on August 15, 2019 at 7:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
I purchased for my bridesmaids a piece of jewelry and a hair accessory to wear during the wedding (and any other time). Could that be considered a wedding party gift, or should I get something more personalized...not to be used during the wedding?

I wouldn't consider that a gift since it's specifically an accessory you want them to wear for the wedding! If you want to give gifts, I'd go a little more personal or at least not wedding related.

Yes make it something not wedding related. I got my girls all bracelets that have nothing to do with the wedding. They are washer word bracelets each with a word that I think of when I think of them.

I did wristlets from Coach (hello Labor Day sales) and personalized wine glasses with inside jokes about each person on it. I also wrote everyone a personal note.

It is not bad form to have that be the BMs gift. You are gifting it to them, and they can use them again elsewhere. I’ve had jewelry given to me as a BM gift in the past, to wear with my dress, and I really appreciated the gesture! It was also one less thing for me to buy lol. You could also gift something else, but IMO, this could def be your gift to them. It’s actually pretty common.

PPs have already said this, so I want to echo them real quick Smiley smile

Anything that you'd like your BMs to wear for the wedding is considered a prop, not a gift. Gifts should be something they can use beyond the wedding. For example, I'm getting my BMs gift baskets from Bath and Body Works because they all love it and will def use it. Shop like it's their birthday!

I think it really depends on the circle of friends. Mine are all fresh out of college or that age, so things like robes and bracelets used for pictures count as gifts. A few of the girls know about their robes and they are SUPER EXCITED to get them. We got all the groomsmen different food themed socks that we thought fit their personality. We chose food themed because FH has some Tapatio socks that say "I'd Tap That" that he INSISTED on wearing. 😂

I'd add in something more personal, especially if you're getting them all matching jewelry and/or it's not something that person would typically wear.
