Wedding party dresses

All of my bridesmaids purchased their own dresses, I bought everyones shoes though!

You can buy them, but usually the members of your party pay for their own attire.

My girls bought theirs. You're more than welcome to offer if you can swing it but it's traditionally their responsibility.

My girls bought theirs, and I’m covering hair and makeup day of. Whatever you’d exude to do is fine, just make sure it’s clearly communicated to them what they will and will not be responsible for!

This varies by culture/region but where I live, the wedding party buy their own outfits. I just gave mine a color scheme and they picked from whatever store and style they wanted.

I'm only having a MOH, no bridesmaids. I'm paying for her hair, makeup, and mani/pedi. She's paying for whatever dress and shoes she chooses to wear.
It also depends on how much $$$ you're willing to spend. I've heard of some Brides who pay for everything, some who pay for only hair and makeup, and some who only pay for nails. It depends on you, your budget, and what you feel comfortable shelling out for your wedding bridal party.

I purchased the dresses for the girls in my party. My fiancé and I felt that if we are asking them to wear something based our vision for the fashion that we should pay for it. Especially since it’s highly unlikely someone will rewear a bridesmaid dress. He’s renting the suits for all the guys as well. It comes down to personal preference but that’s how we felt on the matter. There’s no right or wrong answer though.

Bridesmaids buy their own dresses. They are one use only so keep them very inexpensive $100 or less.

Here in Australia, it is common culturally to pay for just about everything - hair, makeup, jewellery, dress and shoes. Sometimes, it depends on how specific the bride wants to be - ie, I had a friend who didn't care what shoes we wore, as long as they were silver, so we all bought our own. But if a specific shoe is expected, it is more usual for the bride to pay for it.

I think, as one of the other posters has said, as long as you are explicit about what you will and will not be paying for, that is the most important thing.

Typically they buy them unless you pick something insanely overpriced, sometimes it can be nice to pay for their shoes, hair and makeup or accessories though!

I have never been a bridesmaid, but was a MOH twice. In both experiences I paid for everything. In the first experience the bride did buy all of the girls pearl earrings to wear the day of and were a nice gift. The second experience was a travel bag with a romper, that honestly I’ve never worn again. I would have preferred help with buying my outfit, or paying for hair/nails over gifts.

This is my second wedding, so if I do decide to have a MaOH and MOH I'd buy their dresses... only because one of them was in my 1st wedding and it's not her fault that I got divorced... but I'd still want her involved.
