Wedding party attire

Heather, on July 18, 2020 at 10:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Hi lovelies, during these times of the Rona, my girls have not been able to get their dresses. Now that things have started to reopen, I am getting a little worried that nobody has even gone in and looked at dresses. What do you ladies think is an appropriate time to add a little pressure? I am pretty low key but I don't really want to stress about one or ALL of my girls not having dresses. lol

It depends on where they’re buying from and what the turnaround time is. Are they selecting their own dresses?

Yes, I gave them a color and suggested a long dress due to weather. Other than that, they can pick what they want. That is why I am worried. I have no idea where they are planning on buying from.

It absolutely depends on where the dress is coming from. Our wedding was supposed to be November 2020. We rushed in at the end of march/early April to order her dress. It still has not come in. Luckily I am not as worried since we decided to postpone to 2021. We ordered from the bridal shop my dress came from.

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress about it too much. It’s not like you’re demanding they get a specific dress from one place only. I’m honestly not gonna worry about any of that until my wedding day lol. I offered to pay for their dresses(which my mom initially offered to pay for them but due to circumstances she’s no longer attending my wedding) but my bridesmaids and MOH refused and insisted they pay for their own. AnyWho, even if the WORST happens they have to run out and buy a dress that requires no alterations. The dress may not fit them perfectly, but I really don’t think anyone will notice or care. All the focus will be on you

Yes I would be a bit stressed about it. Online may be a faster route, but I would get on them, nicely lol.

Also another point to add, sometimes people try to lose as much weight as possible before being in a wedding, so I wouldn’t necessarily take it as there not worried about getting a dress, they may just be trying to shed those few extra Covid pounds before they find something

Thank you! My Maid of honor was waiting because they were trying to get pregnant so I am not toooo worried about her. lol This is a very good point. I know they are looking online at what style they want so that makes me feel a little better!

My MOHs still haven’t gotten their dresses and our wedding is 9/12! I gave them color suggestions and let them go from there. I’m trying not to stress about it, either they’ll have a dress on the day or they won’t and won’t stand up there with me, but ugh! Even when my best friend found a dress she liked, she still wouldn’t order it because she wasn’t completely sold on the sleeves 🙄.

Oh goodness! Okay, I am glad I'm not alone. That is pretty much what I did as well. Welp, if she doesn't get on it, she will not have any sleeves. hahah

Definitely not alone, and my ladies can’t even use the excuse of Covid because they’ve known what they needed to get since around this time last year when we all went shopping together! I had the thought the other night that maybe she’s procrastinating because she’s hoping I’ll say fine wear whatever you have and she can wear black, but we’re having a sunrise wedding and black would be so out of place. She’s also not a dress person, but it’s like six hours max!

Oh wow. yea, I wouldn't back down on that. If anything I would say "Where whatever as long as it is not black or white." lol

I think it’s OK to give them a gentle reminder but I realize from my own personal experience that even with Reminders they’re not gonna do it until they want to do it. One of my bridesmaids literally did not get hers til three days before my wedding ugh! But it is what it is she got it aha

I would pick one place for them to get them from. I would also specify a specific fabric. Otherwise, you could end up with a variety of colors. Dresses could appear a different color if they aren't from the same place or fabric because different fabrics take colors different. The same place would also enable you to know a good deadline for purchasing would be.
