Wedding Officiant Pricing

Lexi, on May 11, 2019 at 5:18 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
What is a typical price that you would expect to pay for an officiant? What all does that include? .. Rehearsal, ceremony, sound system for the ceremony, counseling sessions?

I’m paying $500 - it includes rehearsal practice, and the ceremony - no sound. It did not include counseling, however both FH & I met w/ her twice & told her about us, so that she can tailor the ceremony to fit us.

When I looked at officiants, they were all in the $300-$500 range for just them showing up twice (rehearsal and ceremony). FH's uncle got ordained online for free, and he will officiate. Actually, most weddings I've been to in the last few years have had a friend or relative officiate if it wasn't a religious figure.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Lexi!

The WeddingWire cost guide is a great tool for getting the average price of wedding vendors in your state! I’m kind of obsessed with it!!

I’m not sure what state you are based in, however, nationally most couples spend between $200 - $450, with the average cost of an officiant costing $300.

You can get a more accurate average for your area on the cost guide and the link above. Furthermore, the cost guide breaks down what is included in the cost of a wedding officiant, along with other helpful information like how much to tip one, what you need to ask your officiant before the wedding, etc.

What state are you planning your wedding in?
