Wedding nightmares!

Guadalupe, on March 31, 2020 at 6:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Hi lovely brides! This is kind of a weird subject but for the past month or so since this virus has started taking over, I’ve been having nightmares about my wedding. I’m planning my wedding still, since it’ll be next year. So I’m not stressed planning or rushing or anything. The nightmares sometimes are about the wrong colors at my wedding, my wedding being the complete opposite of what I wanted, flowers being dead at my wedding, and a whole bunch of other things going wrong at my wedding. I see myself in the dream and my FH and everything seems to be nothing we wanted. Not sure if this has anything to do with the whole COVID19 issue and that’s why I’m stressed? My wedding is not until August 15, 2021. Has this ever happened to anyone? If so what did you do to help these nightmares go away.. help!!! This really stresses me out.

Wedding dreams and nightmares are super common! i tend to think they have to do with things we are legitimately nervous about and it sounds like for you, you're nervous about those certain aspects

    Hi Guadalupe,

First, I want to echo Melle's comment above: Wedding dreams and nightmares are super common. Even for chill brides (e.g., my sister), the frequency of wedding-related dreams seemed to increase as the date approached.

Secondly, re: COVID-19, I personally have had some very strange dreams in recent weeks. After speaking with some friends, it sounds like I'm not the only one. Background: I rarely dream (or almost always forget them--whatever you want to believe about my sleeping mind) and they're not vivid at all. The gist of one of these nightmares (during the Coronavirus pandemic) was my teeth were falling out. It was bad. Some interpretations indicate that teeth-related dreams are related to a loss of control. Umm, obviously, most of us are feeling a lack of control in recent events. In short, I believe these dreams could be part of our new (temporary) normal.

Anyway, it might be interesting to keep a journal of your dreams--in particular, the wedding-related ones--so you can create a checklist of exactly what you want to happen (or NOT) on the big day. Smiley ring
