Wedding Night Plan

Claire, on May 23, 2019 at 2:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
I can’t figure out what to do after the wedding ends! It is a Saturday night and we leave for the honeymoon on Sunday.

Our venue is only 15 minutes from our house, and we don’t have a lot of out of town guests, and many will stay with family, so we weren’t planning on a hotel room block. But now I can’t figure out what we should do after the wedding.

We could go back home, which sounds comfortable but also not anything special, but since we leave for our honeymoon the next day could work. It’s a 10 am flight, airport half hour from the house and closer than the venue.

Or we do a hotel, and try to find one close to the venue. There are a few but aren’t anything special hotel wise - and then we could maybe get a hotel block for those that need it? But I don’t even know what that includes!

Or we get a cute hotel halfway between home and the airport, but have to drive further to get there and there. We also wouldn’t incite anyone else to stay because it is small and then need someone to come get all the things that need to go home/be returned.

Am I way over thinking this? Am I missing options? Pleas help!

We are kind of in the same boat. I'm having my daughter and sister get all the decor/DIY stuff back home for us after the reception. But I wanted our wedding night to be special. We have decided to get a somewhat fancy hotel room in San Francisco. We'll take an Uber from the reception (about 45 miles from SF) to the hotel and have one night in the fancy. The next morning, we'll go straight to the airport from the hotel. It's almost more convenient than going home after the wedding, as we'll have to go to the airport in San Francisco anyway. So, why not spend the night there? The fancy hotel room was my FMILs idea. She's going to pay for it, as a gift to us. She wanted us to have a romantic night.

Can you stay at a hotel by the airport? That way you can have a special fancy night in a hotel but also be close to the airport for the next morning!

So the night of the wedding my FH and I are going to go to a hotel by our selves... My sister will take the kids to our house and stay there with them. Not only would is it nice to be in a hotel with your NOW hubby but, to get away from home life and wedding shenanigans for the night & just woooosahhhhh. Maybe hot tub together? But, just time to enjoy the moment.

I say go home and sleep, have a good brunch.
But if you're feeling creative you could do a fancy hotel near the airport

We went home after the wedding, brought home gifts, etc. - but we didn't leave until Monday after our Saturday evening wedding - it was nice to just be at home and comfortable - plus we had snacks and whatnot at home lol

I vote for the hotel, but have someone come take your dress and tux. If you go straight to the hotel in them and then straight to the airport, where will they go?

    I'm team going home.
But we are more relaxed at home and sleep better in our own bed.
I also wouldn't have to worry about what do do with my wedding dress. It would already be home.

We are doing the same thing. We don’t leave for our honeymoon until Monday and the wedding is on Saturday. We are planning to come back home and have our bridal party bring all the wedding stuff back to our house and put it in the garage. It would be nice to do a hotel or something but the budget just doesn’t call for it. I’m a planner and I get stressed if I don’t know exactly what’s going on so it helps me that we will be back home and can get everything in order before having to go on our honeymoon so I don’t have to do it when we get back

We're going home. We haven't booked our honeymoon flight yet, but we're hoping for Sunday morning. We want to sleep in our own bed and snuggle the cat one more time before we leave for a week.

We are going back to a hotel after, but then home before we leave for our honeymoon Monday. If you go home, you could put a special meal & dessert & champagne in the fridge before you leave and maybe make it romantic with candles?

Airport hotel would be the best option. Have MOH or family bring your bags to the hotel ahead of time so you and new hubby can just check in and grab your stuff to go to your room. This will allow you more time in the morning also. 10am sounds like a late enough flight but you're still talking about getting up around 7am to get ready and be at the airport by at least 8/8:30. Good luck!!
