Wedding Night...help.

Pang, on January 27, 2020 at 11:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hi guys. We're already over our budget with the wedding, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest some inexpensive ways to make our wedding night a little special. Our venue is located 10 mins from the Lake and our choices of accommodations are either family friendly hotels or the Ritz. Obliviously, the Ritz is out of the question at $450+ a night. I can't justify spending that much on a room.

I have rented an Airbnb for the bridal party and me for the night before and the night after the wedding. As much as I love my family. I don't want to be sharing my wedding night in the same house as them. We are from Ohio, so I simply can't just drive home (wedding is in Georgia) or want to drive an hour to the next big city for accommodations.

Any ideas?

It sounds like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. What about an AirBNB for just the two of you? A smaller one? I bet near the lake there are plenty of cute little bungalo/cabin type homes that would be perfect for newlyweds.

My FH and I are just going home after our wedding because we're not traveling anywhere fancy. I wanted to stay at a hotel or an AirBNB but he looked at me sideways because we couldn't justify the cost. "We have perfectly free beds at home," he said! LOL. So we decided to send our dog to my mom's so we could get a night just to ourselves and that will be that.

If I were in your situation, I'd definitely spend a SMALL fee to stay somewhere, just the two of you. Not the Ritz, but just a small space. You could have one of your MOH go there at some point and sprinkle around some rose petals on the bed, or leave some snacks on the nightstand and a bottle of wine. That could make it special. Smiley heart

Do you have a hotel block? Typically hotel blocks will comp a room for the bride & groom if they book 10-15 rooms.

We do but from the looks of it no one will be using it and I’ll probably end up canceling it. Majority of my family is from Georgia and they’ll end up just driving back home. My Ohio family is small so I think they’re going to be renting an Airbnb for their family too.

We may just settle with the 3rd floor bedroom of the Airbnb so it’ll just feel a little bit more private.
