Wedding memory help

Brittany, on February 12, 2021 at 2:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

Hi everyone,

I lost my dad 3 years ago I am getting married this year in June, when I got engaged he was still with us, I want to honor him during the reception and have a song played for him where we have a few moments of silence I know I need to announce it some how but I'm not sure what to say

My DJ is doing something similar for us. Not a moment of silence, but we are dedicating songs to our grandparents who have passed. He's done this before, so he already has something he says for it, like "everyone please join us for a special dance in memory of (insert name)." If you have a DJ, I would ask him/her what they would recommend for a situation like that because a lot of people have already done it in the past.

Hi Brittany, what a sweet gesture ❤️ Perhaps say “Thank you all for joining us. My dad is certainly here in spirit on this day and we wanted to remember him and that he will be watching us throughout our life together. Please join us in a moment of silence and reflection in remembering my father.”

It’s a lovely sentiment that I would probably have during the wedding ceremony and not the reception because it may bring a lot of emotion into the more celebratory portion of the day.

My fiancé just lost his grandfather who lived with him all of his life so we are doing a special chair towards the front of the ceremony space which will have a wreath and a candle on it with a Bible verse on the candle holder in remembrance of him. It would very badly upset his grandmother(make her cry) if we were to have a moment of silence or anything like that.
