Wedding May 2nd and Ban help!

Spring Bride, on March 16, 2020 at 6:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
So long story short the CDC is saying no gatherings over 50 for 8 weeks. My wedding is in 7. Weeks. Our state has a ban of 25 or more until April 5. They will re-evaluate then. I mean I’ve pretty much lost hope. Why would they go from a ban of 25 or more right back to normal allowing a group of 175 people to be in a room 4 weeks later ? That doesn’t make sense. At least the venue will refund us our deposit but what does everyone think? Just venting and trying to get opinions. Sorry for everyone going through this !!

If the ban is lifted they will life the event cap as well because there would no longer be a need. You should be fine to wait it out an see.

I can’t even imagine being in your situation right now. Have you thought about postponing a few more weeks? Not sure if that’s even an option with all your vendors?

My wedding date was May 3rd but at this point I decided to reschedule. Wasn’t an easy decision but I think necessary due to some of our guest and not wanting to compromise their health. I’m booked for August now. Good luck

Smiley sad at least your venue is willing to refund your money. All my vendors and venue said no refunds to which would lead me to loose over $10,000 dlls. Our date is 5/30/2020 and I just saw on the news this could go on till July-August

I think If you yourself cancels or postpones you will lose the money. If they are forced to, they should give you the money back. That’s what I was told but not sure if it’s just our venue. What state are you in ?

This really sucks. I keep reading these post just wondering what would I do if I were in their shoes? I just got married about 1.5 months ago. I went through the whole wedding process just taking things as they come. The virus is obviously a very extreme case. If it were me and I knew I could get a refund, I would reschedule with all of the vendors until next year because you know there are going to be even more brides scheduling from this year and next year. That will take away the stress of the unknown with this virus, can focus on enjoying life, and have a more enjoyable wedding experience. As much as it would suck to reschedule because I cant imagine being so excited for your special day and then this happens.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

May 9 is mine and I’m trying to reschedule. CDC recommends nothing until after May 16 and that could get pushed back.

I just want to clarify the CDC's statement is a recommendation, not a ban. The rules are different state to state and changing every day. That said, it could change...and this is what makes it so hard! We are May 16th and hovering in 'wait & see' what happens over the next couple weeks. Things have changed by the minute...for the negative...very quickly; and I wholeheartedly believe things could change...maybe at a slower rate...for the better too. Whatever you decide, big hugs & no judgment!

Spring Bride reschedule if you love the venue if you have the chance to revisit other places that may be hungry for sales due to COVID-19 then take the funds and book for a late date . You’ll need to anyway due to your guest count. Good luck 🍀!

It really is! I feel for her and these brides. Certain invitation companies are helping you out e.g Shine if you ordered from them and you had to reschedule they are doing it for free or something along that line. If you used a printing company reach out and ask what and there’s anything they are able to do to help offset the new printing .

They have no dates left this year but they have plenty a year from now. It just stinks to have to wait another year. I kind of lost all excitement and just want to go to city hall on the date and get our money back if we can. Maybe take a really expensive vacation when this is over or renovate the house. Plus his father has stage 4 cancer and we were happy that he was going to make it to our wedding May 2nd:/

Just don’t know what to do right now.
