What is your budget on your wedding make-up? Also, are you covering the charge for your bridal party’s make-up?

I'm spending about $300 on makeup. It's $90 for me and $70 for my Matron of Honor, mom, and fiancé's mom. I'm covering all of it myself.

I’ve been in a few weddings and have always had to pay myself for my makeup. That being said wedding makeup is around $150 where I live. I’m still looking around and getting quotes. I will most likely let my girls decide if the want to get their makeup done or do it themselves. I will be paying for myself, my mom and my matron of honor. Another option for your girls is to book an appointment at a MAC counter, it’s technically free but they will need to purchase $50 worth of product. Usually a pair of lashes and a lipstick will cover this and they will have the lipstick for touchups throughout the day. Hope this helps!

Thank you, Kristina! I totally forgot about going to a MAC counter. That's an awesome idea! 👍 Weddings that I have been in the bride has covered her bridal party makeup and that can be really expensive.

I am having someone teach me how to do my own for $75. If I decide during the elopement to have someone do it I still would like to keep it at that. I understand paying someone for their skill and time but I am not willing to pay $100 for something that won't take more than a half hour. Having been a bridesmaid I feel if a bride makes me get the make up professionally done they should cover but if they allow me to do my own or get it professionally then it can be my bill since I at least have a choice.

Thank you for your input. I actually am planning to pay for my bridal party makeup as well. I’ve been getting quotes from several different makeup artists and for bridesmaids, the price I'm getting quoted is between $70 - $80.

You’re welcome! The prices are pretty steep and I have 9 in my party so I think I’m just going to tell them how to come with their hair so I don’t have an added hair cost for them either 😭

I totally understand. I have five in my party but I also want to get my mother make up done as well. 🤦‍♀️ I’m so glad that my mom is a hairstylist because she will be doing everybody hair for me. I didn’t realize how expensive this part of the wedding was. I’ve been quoted between $150 - $175 for bridal make up and sometimes that doesn’t even include the consultation/trial run! 🥺

I agree! It’s just that most of the time brides want their bridal party make up to all look uniform. So I guess this is why they tend to cover the charge.

The thing is that it can be obvious if not everyone gets it done. For example, my sister said that one time when she didn’t get it done (did her own), she looked washed out compared to the others. A makeup artist confirmed that she can tell when some bridesmaids haven’t gotten it done and don’t match - to the point where even if they don’t pay her, she will provide at least a sample of the lipstick to match.
I’m looking at costs now, but personally I will offer it up and look for the best deal for my bridesmaids. There are some that charge more for brides, but if they’re cheaper for the bridesmaids I might go for that. I am not planning to require it, but also I’m not planning to pay for it. TBD.

Mine never did lol. I can understand the looking uniform piece. I would say keep it around $75 per person.

I agree. I wouldn't want to go over $75 per bridesmaid.

I agree with your sister. I definitely want everybody make up to be done because I’m sure that you will be able to tell the difference in the photos and I don’t want anyone to look washed out.

    Yeah I agree!
I’m still looking into pricing but I feel like the first person I asked was high for bridal ($275 including trial and day of), but cheap for bridal party ($40 w/o false eyelashes). I’d probably go that way over more for bridal party cheaper for me, but I have to see.

I haven't seen bridal party make up that cheap at all. However, that's the highest I've heard so far for bride makeup 🤷‍♀️.
