The very first thing you need to decide is the type of wedding you want. Then the budget and guest list so you know approximately how many people you are inviting and what you can afford to spend. Venues/caterers charge per person for food so it is a good idea to know what you can afford. You also will need to know the approximate number of guests so that you pick a venue with enough seating.

You're welcome! There are a ton of planning tools online. I know The Knot as a budgeting tool, but I am not sure if this site does. With The Knot You can put what your overall budget it is then you can put in individual items and it will subtract each item from your total so you will know how much money you have left after you allocate money for each thing. I didn't use the feature because I didn't realize they had it until after we created our budget, but I have played around with it and it seems really useful and easy to use. My mom also bought us a planning book that was created by The Knot. I used to organize everything. It also helped me with making sure I had everything I needed. I also created a binder for venue touring. I included paper in it to take notes and any packets I was provided by the venues. After we toured all of the venues I had all of the information in one easy place to go through and decide which venue we wanted. When it came to emailing venues, I created a separate folder within my email for all wedding related emails. This made it easy to locate any email relating to the wedding. I hope all of this has helped! Congratulations and happy planning Smiley smile

You can honestly wear anything in the winter, but it probably depends on if you will be having your wedding outside. I wore a ballgown in like 100 degree weather which wasn't ideal, but I love ballgowns so that's what I wanted to wear.

Welcome! First major decisions: 1) budget, 2) estimated guest list, 3) venue. I think if you want a theme or a style (rustic, classic, Harry Potter, winter wonderland), figure that out before venue shopping because it’ll help you choose a venue that fits your theme without needing as much decor/cost. Yes, halls are cheap but if you want a fairytale look it would cost a ton to transform a hall. A ballroom or botanical garden would be a better venue for a fairytale wedding.

For a rustic style if you can’t find a barn you like or one that’s affordable, a winery or mountain lodge/resort might give you that great rustic style you want. I think a winter wedding is so romantic! 💕

I would start a pinterest board with ideas to look back on when planning...even down to hair and make up styles to show what you want when you go for trials.

Then that is half the battle lol. Also, you'd be surprised what you find on etsy. Even wedding bands. I found my veil from there and I love it.

Below is a link for the book from Amazon. Target sells it as well, by it looks like you'd have to purchase it from their website. Hobby Lobby has a paperback version, but I think the binder would be better. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions you can add me as a friend and ask me as you plan. Good luck!
