Wedding jewelry rules?

Ana, on May 20, 2021 at 7:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
I’m doing a romantic updo with a tiara, my dress is a strapless sweetheart mermaid dress with sheer lining on my back and a sheer lining in the middle part of the chest going down about 4 fingers measurement. I’m having a little trouble on deciding jewelry? Am I supposed to wear a necklace or not? And does that have something to do with the earring choice? Please any feedback is greatly appreciated

You don’t *have* to do anything.
Some ornate dresses don’t need a necklace. Some simple looks don’t need a necklace. Some can have necklaces be the focal point.
If you are doing a necklace for an ornate dress, it might take a little time to find a complimenting piece if it’s not a simple necklace. Or, it can be something that just means a lot to you. My necklace was out one year dating anniversary gift, and that was nine years ago. Smiley smile the earrings and bracelets were occasion gifts since then. They don’t match, per-say, but they mean a lot to me and they don’t clash.

Oh! Or family jewelry or blue jewelry if you’re trying to satisfy the old/new/borrowed/blue tradition. 🤗

All good stuff right here! And totally agreed that you don't have to do anything specific. My ring is gold (with all the diamondy goodness), so I was just planning on wearing a pair of gold-backed earrings in my lowest lobe piercings (I have 3 per lobe). The night before the wedding I tried to put them in and found that, because I rarely ever wear any earrings anymore, the top holes had closed on both ears, the middle had closed on my left ear, and the bottom had closed on my right ear. I would have had to re-pierce my right ear to make that work, but then my ear would be a swollen and red and uncomfortable on my wedding day. So I just didn't bother and ended up not wearing earrings at all. My something borrowed was a small diamond bracelet set in gold, and then my something old was a silver pendant necklace with a small diamond on a silver chain. That necklace technically didn't "go" with anything else I was wearing, but it looked just fine. If you don't want to wear a necklace, you don't have to. If you want to match your necklace to your earrings, have at it.

If you have a tiara and a sweetheart neckline, I think you would be fine with no necklace! I would say yes to earrings though! Even some simple studs will look really nice and compliment your tiara.
