Wedding is over

Noelle, on January 10, 2020 at 8:31 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
If you’ve had your wedding, already, are you missing the planning?

I find myself missing it! I keep wanting to look at dresses again, flowers and colors, etc etc.
Am I being normal here? I guess I just need to find another hobby stat.
Has anyone else gone though this?

It’s totally normal to feel a little lost when such a huge part of your life is over! I find the best thing is to just focus on the positive... how much more free time you have, how much more money you can save, and the fact that you’re finally married which is what you wanted!

I felt that way for a while! I was all ready to plan another party (we were going to do a surprise party for my moms 50th birthday!) But we ended up pregnant so that's been taking up my planning Smiley laugh

    Hi Noelle,
I'm sure it's a huge letdown, I'm getting married in Feb. 2021, I have my 👗 dress already, I pull it out every week to try it on, it's so exciting, I can't imagine what it's going to like when the high is gone!! I love the planning and the anticipation of getting dressed and getting made up with my bridesmaids, would you please give your opinion of my dress, it's from Stella York, style 6979, if you care to Google it!! 👰 👰

Crazy unlikely suggestion- take up wedding planning? Or if you've got friends who are getting married soon then offer them help in planning!

Normal! For at least six months after the wedding we were both relieved—no more planning, spending money, stressing. We enjoyed date nights again.

About a year later we really missed it. I took up a part-time job at a bridal shop and loved helping other brides. Can you look at jobs in the wedding industry?

I am so relieved. I enjoy looking at the photos but it was so much work and stress and money I wouldn’t want to go through all that again. Im keeping plenty busy at home to fill the time I used to spend on wedding planning.

I’ve totally considered this!! Maybe in the future! Right now I have a son who is 20 months old, and a regular day job (teaching.). Maybe once he’s older!

Yes part time in a bridal shop would be my ideal. I think I’d really like that. How is it going for you?

Yes it is normally. I have been married almost six months and I have missed planning. I also go through periods of wishing certain things had been different, but I think this is all pretty normal.

It is! We're super excited! She should be making her debut in less than 7 weeks now! (I'm hoping for 5 or 6 weeks, there was some discussion about inducing me a week early)

My fiancé keeps asking me what I'm going to do when the wedding is over and there's nothing to plan. I'm so worried about that! This really has taken up a lot of my time, and while some of it has been a pain, some of it has been really fun, too! I love the suggestion of taking a part time job at a wedding shop.

I took a job at the mall for the holiday season to make extra money for the wedding and I had a lot of fun at that job. I was exhausted though, because I work full time already and was planning a wedding! So maybe I can look for something like that after the wedding is over and we've had some R&R.

Just keep planning your future! I'm going to hit the ground running and start planning on buying a house by making a wish list, visiting open houses, saving for it, etc. That should keep me occupied for a bit. Smiley heart

My MOH got engaged during christmas and I will be her MOH. Our wedding is June 2020 and hers is November 2021. I'm not going to lie...kinda happy I'll have another year to enjoy the excitement of planning once ours is over!

It was so fun!!! It’s tiring being on your feet all day but I lost 5 pounds. Helping brides find their dream dress is awesome. So. many. dresses.

I worked there for 6 months but then got a full-time job and at 40+ just can’t work 7 days a week. 🤪

I don’t miss the planning, but I still get on here moat days as I love seeing the dresses and BAMs.
I was also in graduate school, student teaching, trying to become a foster parent, and then finding a job in the months following my wedding, so I didn’t have “free time” from not planning.
Finding a hobby or activity to fill that now free time would be a great idea!

Not married yet, but I know I will definitely miss it since it's all I do in my free time. But I'm happy because my best friend is engaged, my other best friend will be engaged this year according to her bf, my cousin will most likely get engaged this year and told me I would be her MOH, and my other friend is engaged as well so I'm thinking 3-4 weddings in ****. I'm the first to get married and have a big wedding among all my friends and family, so they all told me they would use me a resource. I also miss trying on pretty wedding dresses so I'll probably make an appointment in the future and pretend I'm getting married again lol.
