Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with wedding invitation drama! Smiley winking

We sent our invites out 2 weeks ago - several guests received theirs the following day, while several haven't received theirs at all! We've gotten some sent back to us for no apparent reason; I double-checked the addresses and they're correct.

Another example - Invites were sent to separate people at the same address... one has received theirs and the other hasn't.

I don't understand how they just disappear! Has anyone else run into this problem? It is very frustrating!

Such a pain in the butt, ladies!

@Tiffany P. -- that's exactly what I'm worrying about! Running into all of these issues makes me wonder how many people haven't gotten the invitation. I would hate for someone to think they aren't invited anymore, or I forgot about them. Obviously I'll contact them once the RSVP due date arrives, and explain the situation, but still an annoyance! PS - July 6th is a great wedding date Smiley winking

Yes, this happened to me! Some people didn't receive their invites and some people sent their RSVPs back and I never received them. I definitely think its the Chicago mail service. I am missing over half of my RSVPs. The guests that didn't receive their invitations live in Chicago but guests who live everywhere else received theres.

Yes I have been posting on this lately. One invite not delivered, One returned 6 weeks after it was sent. To the correct address. Some others did not arrive. They wonder why I use electronic bill pay? Maybe because you can not deliver the dammmn mail!

Thanks, Lauren Smiley smile You have good taste.

I have been lucky that people have gotten something from the post office. Enough to prompt them to call me and say they didn't get the actual invitation. So I've been able to get another one out to them immediately. The funniest part is I orignally went to the main post office, hand stamped, and mailed them. With these last minute ones I've just dropped them in the mailbox and left it at that. Every single one of those made it. Go figure!

This is why I am sending mine out late/mid July! My fiance's step-brother had a problem with the RSVP. They had a very small card, and I guess the post office does not allow that small size of mail, so it was a nightmare figure out who was coming to the wedding. I felt bad for her. We are planning on hand delivery a good amount of ours just because we see the people all the time that we are inviting. I'm sorry people are having such a hard time with the post office. I'm glad that has not happened to me yet!

Lauren, it happened with my STD. And of course they were all going to the Chicago area.

But interestingly enough, 2 had the apartment numbers incorrect and they received theirs, while one didn't need an apartment and it came back.

I'm really worried because I feel like I'm going to have to check when I send the invites out.

I've also heard (I'm in Maryland) that a crap load of mail was found in a sewage drain in a city near me!! Crazy! 2 people that live in the same apartment complex as we do haven't received their invited which were sent out the last week of April but RSVP's are due Saturday :-(

We sent out our invites mid July and had them weighed by the post office. The clerk said the .66 wedding stamp was fine. Now we are hearing that some people did not receive their invites-and-some are written on that postage is due! There's no way that our envelope needs over a dollar postage! Unbelievable! It just boggles my mind that we followed through, had someone weigh the invite and are still living the nightmare of having to call people and ask if they got an invite. Post office is very disappointing lately. My father was a mailman, recently retired, so normally I have great respect for carriers...but never in my life have I ever experienced such incompetence! AND the heartbreaking part is we worked so hard on the invites...just to have them ruined through the Return to Sender process!

I know this is an old post, but it's comforting to read I am not the only one with this problem. I read back the addresses to guests and they are correct! I checked that we have the right postage! Several people received their invites, but still at least three people so far say they haven't gotten it! I'm banging my head against the wall! I did read that invites with ribbons inside them sometimes get stuck in the sorter, and then lost or discarded. Maybe that's the ticket? Still, frightening and frustrating! I hope these guests don't think I forgot about them and am making excuses!

Similar situation: I'm just sending out my "hey, you haven't rsvp'd and I was wondering if you could make it" messages and 4-5 people never got an invite. None were sent back to me, but they just never made it to their destination. We sent them over the course of a week, just a few addressed after dinner every night, and it looks like the missing ones were all from the same segment of the guest list. It's two weeks til the wedding. How do I deal with this?

Just had a batch come back all for people in my hometown in wisconsin - i live in MN now. All of our friends and coworkers here got them fine, my friends in madison and milwaukee did, but my po-dunk hometown sent them back for add'l postage! Nervous to see what other cities send them back, mailed them out over a week ago already...

I'm looking at the dates and this these issues are back in 2013/2014 we'll it's 2017 now and it's still happening. 2 months into the wedding and I am now finding out that there are some family members who have not received an invitation and I took picture of every single invite I sent out just to remind myself that I indeed made an Invitation towards that person. Now I have to call every single person whom I haven't received an Rsvp from to make sure they indeed received it. What's worse is that we got our invitations from weddingpaperdivas and they have announced that they were closing down and selling to shutterfly so I might not have the opportunity to order the same invites I ordered in the first place. So if I have to send out more than 20 invites again I'm gonna have to diy some or purchase some different type of invitations. Oh the stress!!!!!!

Wow! I can't believe how often this happens! I mailed my invitations and found out that about half didn't make it to my guest. I went to the post office and they told me they can't do anything about it! My advice is to send them out very early and order extras. This is so stressful and so awkward called all 120 people asking if they received our wedding invitations

This exact same thing happened to me. Luckily one of my bridesmaids is someone who did not receive an invitation and told me to check with everyone who I hadn’t heard from. Some guests hadn’t received one, some had but we never received their reply, and others were delivered to the wrong place. My sister’s was sent back to me, but someone at the exact same address received theirs. It absolutely unacceptable. We have enough to deal with in planning a wedding. Save yourself the trouble and $$ — send invites electronically.

OMG I hate USPS! They lost about 1/2 of our invitations! I have no idea who got one and who didn't. I can't afford to send out a second round.

I will be following this for suggestions!
