Wedding Invite Question

Brenda, on March 6, 2020 at 9:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
Our guests received our Save The Dates and our wedding site was listed. An out of state couple already RSVP'd No with a kind note via our site (which we somewhat knew due to distance)...do we still send them a formal wedding invitation? TIA!

I would still send an invite! I would also turn off the RSVP page of your website until invites go out so you don’t have to follow up with people later.

Yes, you should still send an invitation. Plans change.

Yes. Not because plans change, but its just courteous. Plus they could still opt to send you something.

I had a friend told me she wouldn’t come because of Mother’s Day. I sent it anyway.

I find it irritating when I go out of my way to inform someone early, and they act like they paid no attention to what I said. You know they cannot come. Send an invitation to someone else. No need to send one to her , again, after she said no. I have heard people say, send one anyway so they know you care. But It is not flattering to have someone deliberately ignore what you have said. And traditional etiquette is that you record a decline whenever or however you receive it, you don't question it, and you don't forget it.

My fiance's old work colleague declined after we sent our Save the Date, due to the fact that her brothers wedding is the same day. We didn't send them a formal invitation.

I agree with the last two, they have already declined. Don’t ignore their answer and continue to ask (ie pressure) them to attend. Respect that they aren’t able to come and send the invite to someone you maybe had to remove from your original list.
