Wedding invitations digital or not

I keep going back and forth between sending a traditional wedding invitation or a digital evite. We have went over budget with a few things so I know this would be an easy way to save money; we are sending out digital save the dates. However, I just worry digital evites will look cheap or not formal. What's everyone else doing?

    We did paperless post. They are digital but come in a digital envelope, script writing etc. We also did a few paper invites for the older people in both our families.

    If you are having a casual wedding I think digital is fine. For semi formal or formal I think you need paper.

    We're having a big international destination wedding, over 3 days, a welcome dinner, 9 hour wedding and a sunset yacht cruise for the day after. We had a quick 4 month engagement and wanted to let everyone know ASAP so I did digital invites and detail cards. We have 3 times the guest list we expected to have. Paper invites are definitely not necessary!

    It's 2019. Paper anything isn't necessary. Your guests should be able to tell how formal your wedding is by the venue. You can also put the dress code on your website. Save the money and some trees and go digital if you want!
