Wedding Invitations are Lost!

Christinanyc, on November 30, 2016 at 7:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

So.. Anyone else experience their invitations NOT making it to the intended recipients? My fiancé and I found out recently that a couple of guests never received their invitations. It's quite embarrassing :-/

Yea it's annoying but it happens. We sent an invite to FH's parents house and one to his next door neighbor he has known all his life. His parents got theirs. but the neighbor never did. Thanks post office. Another friend I sent one invitation and it bounced back, I sent a second and it never got to her.

This happened to my best friend (I was her MOH). She had told me she sent them out and we never got ours. It arrived 2 days before the wedding severely disfigured, lol.

Yes. I sent mine a bit early (for a DW) and my grandmother never got hers. She's the only one that spoke up but I really hope other invitees got them and don't think they aren't invited. I got some of the addresses from FH's family so haven't spoken to the people directly, I don't know if they even know we're engaged.

This happened to us! One of our semi-close friends received their Save the Date but never received the wedding invitation. So I happened to see her a couple of weekends before the wedding and casually asked if they would be able to make it. That's when she said "Oh, we received the STD, but never got an invite, so I thought we were uninvited." SO embarrassing!!!

Ugh yes! We had no joke 10 go MIA. But after the RSVP date we just called and got the invite to them.

It's pretty common. My mail service now routinely loses and misdelivers things.

Ugh, we purposely went to the post office just to have a peace of mind when mailing them out. Now, my FH's aunt and uncle from FL are giving us shade because they really believe that we didn't send them one. Ugh.

That happened to us and we had absolutely no back ups or extras. I felt so aweful. But told the people they were in fact invited. That we really wanted them there. And told them how sorry we were about it being lost. None were mad. I sent them a picture of the invitation. I know it isn't the same. But I at least thought its better than nothing...

I wish there was another option other than the post office because i found out during thanksgiving that a lot of save the dates haven't made their way yet and i sent them out a while ago. thoes were pricey!

This happened to my FH and I actually. His friend sent us invitations to his wedding twice and it got lost twice. Finally he just delivered it to FMIL's house (FH and I were away at college at the time and he was going to be going to visit his parents soon), but by then FFIL had booked tickets for FH and him to go to Italy and I wasn't going alone so we just sent a card lol. It happens.

Yep! Apparently one never reached my grandmother. She told my mom she was thinking she wasn't invited (probably got put in the wrong mailbox unfortunately). And then another one was even returned saying it wasn't the right address, but we had two invites going to the address this one was returned from. Don't know what happened there since one returned and the other didn't. But yeah, it does happen and it's very annoying.

We sent ours out on 11/12 and just got one returned to us today. I couldn't believe it took that long. It was for one of my friends, I plan on giving it to her at my shower this weekend.

This happened to quite a few of ours, and we actually had some RSVP cards get lost in the mail when they were being sent back to us! It all got worked out when we followed up on RSVPs with phone calls though

Our Save the Date got returned to us for my one ex-coworker. She verified that the address was correct but we have no idea why it was returned.

We will be just handing her the invitation for the wedding.

There are usually a few in any mass mailing that just don't get there. Some get returned, some get damaged. Some are improperly addressed to begin with. It happens. If you can track down those who didn't receive them and send another, or hand-deliver a replacement, I'm sure it will all work out fine!

We had some of our engagement party invite get lost. It just happens sometimes. Or some of them you get back in returned mail for incorrect addresses. A couple people wrote their address down wrong so they never got their invite

If you can, try to check up with guests. Don't use the excuse "well I got addresses from FMIL" or something, if you are adult enough to get married, you are adult enough to pick up the phone and call Smiley smile Or just have respective family member check with different groups. If I didn't get an RSVP from my parents friends, I had my mom check with them. Or my dad went up to my grandmother's and I had him ask my aunt and uncle because they were there too... don't count on the mail getting it right Smiley smile

This is happening to me as well. I was casually talking to a friend of mine (most of the day via text) and asked her if she got her invitation. She said No. That has been two guests so far. Plus my grandma sent back her rsvp card 2 weeks ago. I still haven't received it. I know she is coming, but I definitely wanted to save her card as a keepsake.

I decided to contact the vips on my side to make sure they got theirs. Everyone did (some very late though they were local). FH's family is pretty close knit and all know the wedding is going down. And I anticipate having to call them all to hunt down their rsvp, so we'll wait to call them.

My Aunt's was lost in the mail. I ended up sending her another just so she could have a copy but got her verbal RSVP in the meantime. Glad I followed up with her when she "never" RSVP'd!

Did you get the right stamps? Sometimes if the invitations is slightly thicker or didn't pass on the Post office thickness, don't use just the Forever stamps. I had to use 68cents stamps (2ounce stamps)
