Wedding Invitation Timeline?

Megan, on June 15, 2022 at 4:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
Our wedding is October 23rd of this year. I am thinking of setting our RSVP date to September 20th and sending out the invites in late August. Does that timeline make sense? A lot of our vendors need a headcount 30 days prior. It feels a little early but there’s not too much I can do. Should I send the invites earlier than late August?

Send out invitations at the standard 6-8 weeks with replies due at 4 weeks and 1 week buffer before you give vendors the final headcount. Negotiate with vendors because no one anywhere can confirm before 4 weeks what their availability is and a headcount at 4 weeks is unreasonable. Do not send invitations earlier than 8 weeks because guests will lose and forget the information and they will assume you are B Listing and looking for seat fillers.

I think send them both together instead of doing them 1 at a time in the end of July giving them enough time to reach them. And set the deadline in August in case that you get some late RSVP back late. Because you are going to be hunting ppl down when it's so close to the wedding month. Mine is also in Oct 30th and we sent our out the end of May and some are coming in others that I had to play phone tag and I had to tell the fiancee to contact ppl. So that we will the head count early and if we can add someone ir if someone tells us that they cant make it then its can easily be remove. Because come September I can contrast on my bridal shower and bachelorette party get my marriage license and work up until a few days before and get married. I hope that I helped

That makes sense to me! I'd set your RSVP deadline for a week or two before you vendors need your final headcount - that will give you time to follow-up with anyone who didn't RSVP on time. Then work backwards and send out your invitations 3-4 weeks before your RSVP deadline!!

Your timeline seems to work for you. My venue needs the head August 5 and our wedding is October 1. For us we are sending the invites out by July 8 with a return by July 31. Any stragglers we can figure out but we also have a lot who have to book flights and hotels as well.

That sounds perfect! We sent our invites in May, with an RSVP date of July 1. But that's very early, and not for everyone. It makes sense in our situation as we have a lot of out of town guests, and my family hasn't had a wedding in 20+ years so they're all very excited. We knew what most people's RSVP status would be anyway. And, a couple of our vendors need super early head counts. Also, I'm a teacher, and I didn't want to be dealing with managing RSVPs, setting up a seating chart, etc. while preparing for and starting a new school year. Trying to spread things out so as to not be totally overwhelmed at the start of the school year, and be confident that most of the big stuff is done! Smiley smile

Hi mine is in the same month Oct and on the 30th @the end of the month. Now we sent ours out last month because of how the post office would handle the amount that we gave them. And I'm getting mines back a little at a time but I also sent a memo because some of my ppl dont check there emails. On let them know when the deadline is we extended the deadline to thee end of this month. So start sending them out this month now

Absolutely! My wedding is on October 22nd and we're sending out our invitations the 3rd week of August. You're doing the right thing. Smiley smile
