Wedding invitation- spelling out 49th Street?

Holly Renee, on March 2, 2011 at 11:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Our wedding location is on 49th street... it's something like 10790 North 49th Street. I am going to spell out 49th on our invitation. Are both numbers capitalized? Meaning, which is right: 10790 North Forty-Ninth Street OR 10790 North Forty-ninth Street? Does it even make a difference?

I could be wrong but I believe both numbers should be capitalized.

You may not want to do that. If the street sign is written out 49th and they see Forty-Ninth, it may end up confusing people. If you still want to do it, I think you should capitalize both letters.

It is totally up to you -- I would capitalize both numbers.

To limit all confusion I would just put

    "10790 North 49th Street"

But my invites are very casual....

The website above says it would be "North Forty-ninth Street".

It depends on how formal your invitations are, as Christina said.

The secondary portion of hyphenated words are not capitalized. Heather C. is correct.
