Wedding invitation etiquette

Megan, on June 21, 2019 at 12:56 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
Hello I already sent my invites and now I’m obsessing over whether I made a huge mistake that will upset people. I did my own handwritten calligraphy on each outer envelope no inner addressing. On Pinterest the name looked informal and the look of the line drawn off each side of enevelooe following the first and last letter I was drawn to follow. So my dilemma is unmarried guests with SOs I wrote ms. a smith. I did not induced SO names or and guest because on rsvp cards I put two lines to write the name starting with letter m. And I wrote this invitation has 2 seats reserved (found on Pinterest I liked how clear it was to not cause confusion). Did I mess up not writing in calligraphy and guest or the SO name on outer ?

Thanks

It may be confusing to people who is actually invited. Although if you gave someone -
__/2 seats hopefully they’ll assume their SO is invited as well. I’d be ready for a lot of questions from guests though.

Yes, with no inner envelopes, the outer should’ve been addressed to whomever was actually invited. There’s obviously no going back to fix it now, but be prepared for a lot of questions. Many guests will probably be confused.

I think you will be just fine. Your RSVP says that you reserved 2 seats for that person, so that tells them right there that their SO is included.

    Hi there Megan!

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

It may confuse some guests, however, hopefully when they see the inner RSVP card with space for 2 names, they will understand that they have a plus one. I'm sure if anyone is confused, they will reach out to you and clarify.

If any guests RSVP with just their own name, you could reach out and make sure they are aware they have a plus one on the invite and if there is anyone they would like to invite to accompany them Smiley smile
