Wedding Invitation Confusion

Sara, on June 30, 2021 at 9:43 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

This may be silly and I know I'm probably over thinking this, but do the wedding invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding date, or is it 6-8 weeks before the respond by date?

Before the wedding date. You can go a little sooner if you're worried about mail delivery times, but no more than 10 weeks.

You try to give people 2-4 weeks to respond and give yourself at least a month before the wedding to have your numbers in (it may give you a few days to track down straggling responses).

Thank you! We are needing out responses by Aug 13th for our Sept 4th wedding, so it got me a little confused lol

We wanted to do 3 months before but ended up doing around 10 weeks and some people got them a couple weeks before the wedding! For a Sept wedding, I would send asap.

6-8 weeks before the wedding date, but I think you need to give your guests at least 2-3 weeks before the RSVP date, so if you have an unusually early RSVP deadline for whatever reason, you should send them a bit earlier. Definitely not more than 10 weeks in most cases though!

We are sending our invitiations out 7/8-ish weeks before our final head count is due to our venue which is 30 days prior to the wedding. I feel that waiting 6-8 week before the acutal wedding date to mail the invitiations and receive RSVPs back is too much of a time crunch especially with half our guest list having to travel.

We mailed off our invites 7 weeks before our wedding date and our rsvp date is 3 weeks before our wedding date. The final head count is due 2 weeks before the event so, that’ll give me a week to call everyone who missed the rsvp deadline.
