Wedding Insurance

Megan, on March 11, 2020 at 4:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Has anyone gotten wedding insurance? I’m getting married mid June and with all of this COVID-19 I’m worried about the wedding getting cancelled at the venue or us not being able to fly. Any information would be great and if you have gotten it please let me know where and how much you paid 💕✨ thank you xo

We have it through our home insurance provider, but I don’t believe ours would cover an epidemic (which corona has been classified as) so be sure to ask before purchasing if that’s your only reason for buying.

Wedding insurance won’t cover covid-19 unfortunately.

Already looked into it, none of the policies I've found cover coronavirus.

And honestly, at this point it may be very calmed down by June. We have no idea what's going to happen, so I would take a deep breath and proceed as normal unless otherwise informed. It's a few months out and you might be fine.

Wedding / Travel insurance does not protect against the now Pandemic COVID-19.

Even those who had it prior to January 2020, would not be covered

Yea, my wedding is June 13th and I’ve been shopping for insurance. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover the Coronavirus. My venue is non-refundable Smiley sad
I hope everything will be alright by June.

I would ask your vendors and venues about what options you’d be able to have if you do need to postpone or cancel cause of it

The wedding insurance that many talk about is liability insurance to cover you and your guests in case of injury, accident, or property damage. Wedding cancelation insurance is a bit different, so be sure you read your policy and understand what you are and are not covered for.

WedSafe offers both types of policies, but the cancelation insurance has itemized limits. So for example, you can buy $30k worth of coverage but might not get reimbursed that full amount if you for, example, spent $4k on a photographer but the limit for photography is $2k. For WedSafe, the cancelation plans cannot be modified, so I found it to be a rip-off.
