Wedding Insurance

pittielvr, on August 30, 2013 at 11:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I am looking for a wedding insurance policy. My homeowners will cover liability and alcohol, however they do not have vendor cancellation coverage. I saw wedsafe and Markel provide both- however are these good companies? Any experience with either or filing a claim?

Thanks

WedSafe is listed here on WW and has four 5-star reviews from couples and 12 endorsements from other wedding pros.

I no longer trust WW reviews. 99% of vendors have 5 stars.

I've used Markel for business insurance and have had no problems.

    Why not trust the reviews?

A vendor creates a storefront here. Vendor asks couples to review him/her. Now, if the vendor knew s/he had really screwed up something, s/he would not ask for a review from that couple.

Almost all of my couples did not know about WW before I asked them to review me here.

So the odds of a dissatisfied couple posting a review on WW is very slight.

Exactly for the reasons you just stated. The reviews are skewed. You only see the good reviews, not the bad. Hence, they are not accurate.

Well, if a dissatisfied couple searched around for places to leave bad reviews, they'd find WW. If the vendor has a storefront here, the couple can leave a bad review. There are some vendors on here with a few bad reviews. Of course, if they are in one of the popular categories with only paid for ads showing, you wouldn't see them unless you did a search by name.

Do a search for limo services -- seems quite a few of them have bad reviews.

Then the vendor disputes it and it gets removed. We've been through this.

This is my opinion and you won't change it. I'm warning other brides to be cautious of relying on WW reviews alone.

Now, please let this go back to the OP's topic.

We used Markel it was great for peace of mind. I did not want my homeowners wrapped up in anything.

I can say from a bride POV wedsafe is very reasonable and they have very good limits and customization for a good price. I was recommended to use them by our venue since they require that we have it.

Our actual policy is through markel american after signing up with wedsafe.com.

I'm getting liability insurance for our wedding since it's being held at the old courthouse in cleveland, a public building. i think it's a wise investment.

I have heard good things about Wedsafe. Some of the couple that have been to our venue have used that in the past and I know one even had to do a claim afterwards. They did not have any problems.

Insurance is important for a wedding...very important if alcohol is being served!

We used WedSafe and we unfortunately had a claim. Fortunately their claims process was easy and they paid extremely quickly...so yes...they, in our opinion, ROCK. There was a $25.00 deductible and they paid out $1475.00 on this particular claim. I have no problem endorsing them fully.

My FH is in the insurance industry (an actuary) and he looked into wedding insurance and said it wasn't worth it (and he looks into insurance for EVERYTHING!)...so depending on your exact situation you might not need it!

So wedsafe is not the actual insurance provider? They are just a broker? I went on both wedsafe and markles site and it seemed wedsafe was more expensive. So if I go through them and i just end up with Markel, it sound better to just go directly to Markel. If you used websafe, what was the name of the insurance company you ended up with?

We booked with wedsafe. I've heard good things via our local wedding sites. We only did the one for emergency like hurricanes, etc because our venue has full liability. I totally think its worth the $!!
