Wedding Insurance!

Nathalie, on June 23, 2020 at 6:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

My groom and I are embarking on our wedding journey and amid all the covid stress, we are now exploring the option of getting wedding insurance. I'm curious to know if anyone has experience with wedding insurance. What's the best route to go? Is it worth it? If you have it, what was your experience?

Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, wedding insurance is a good investment. However, almost every insurance policy issued now will specifically exclude literally anything caused as a result of COVID (i.e. postponement/cancellation, vendor goes out of business, loss of deposits, etc.), so if that's your primary motivation for exploring insurance, you are unfortunately out of luck. There are still many other benefits though, so I would continue to explore those. WedSafe and WedSure are probably the two most common options, although WedSafe might not be issuing new policies right now the last I checked (at least for my state).

Our venue required that we get insurance but it covers all of us if someone damages the venue or drinks and drives and gets in an accident and wants to sue us for serving alcohol. But as the pp said, insurance won't cover COVID, which is dumb.

Our venue requires it and it's a good idea to get it. You just don't know what can happen, especially if you're serving alcohol, so it's better to be on the safe side. In addition to the ones already mentioned, our venue recommended Cover My Events and Event Helper. I haven't looked into them yet, but I plan to compare it to what my mom can get through her State Farm insurance. This is another option, inquire with any insurance companies you already deal with.

It is quite possible to make such insurance.

Find a good agency and sign a contract with him.

Hi Nathalie! I think having liability insurance is always a good idea, but like Stacey mentioned - I'd check the terms of cancellation insurance very closely to see if they are excluding Covid-19 related health concerns from the coverage!
