Wedding Insurance??? Should I??

Andrea, on March 16, 2020 at 3:39 PM Posted in Planning 1 11
Alright fellow brides-to-be did you get wedding insurance? I’ve heard very little about it and I’m unsure about it. However with everything going on now plus a venue I was interested in just declared bankruptcy...I’m definitely considering getting the insurance but I just don’t know enough about it. Can anyone help?

Depending on your venue, you may be required to have wedding insurance anyway. For example, my venue required general liability coverage and liquor coverage. I recommend https://www.theeventhelper.com It was cheap too -- I paid less than $70.00.

However, if you're also looking for coverage for COVID-19, I heard that most wedding/event insurances don't cover anything in the case of disease.

If you are getting the event insurance because of the virus, double check to see if they will even cover it. I have looked at several places today and they are not accepting new or will not cover the event related to the virus.

    Thanks Laura!
I’m actually just asking for general purposes. My wedding isn’t until next year.

Awesome! Then I would definitely recommend it! What's a couple hundred dollars compared to thousands of dollars spent on your wedding. Would be well worth it if unfortunate situations happen. Clearly, things happen so fast out of our control. I wasn't prepared for this at all!

Exactly! Before the news of the virus spread the was a venue in my city that just closed its doors with no warning! So many couples were left with nothing! No money back, no warning, nada! That made me think about wedding insurance.

It’s very unlikely that wedding insurance will cover you in the event of Covid-19 and I imagine coverage will start being explicitly written out of policies.

I was reading you said they already closed its doors...it might be already to late. Its something you get before something happens. Im hoping you get this worked out but wanted to warn you.

    Thank you Chelsea,

I used that as an example of why I’m considering wedding insurance. I was never booked there. My wedding isn’t until next summer.
