Wedding in October 2020 but honeymoon in 2021

AnaA, on February 4, 2020 at 1:55 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

We are getting married this October but are planning on going on our honeymoon until the spring of 2021. The reason being is that we want to save our vacation days to go to Mexico in December for my brother in law's 10 year death anniversary. How long is it appropriate after the wedding to go on a honeymoon?

I think that's fine. One of my friends had her honeymoon months after her wedding. Now a days people don't go immediately after.

We’re going 8 months after. We needed more money and time off work.

We got married in Sept. 2018 and went on our HM April of 2019 because we wanted to take 2 full weeks to travel.

I don’t think it matters how long after, I’d just be worried about postponing it indefinitely. We aren’t going right away either

We are also going next year to save up additional time and because we are buying a house this year.

My sister is getting married this year and they are doing a mini moon and just going away for three days the weekend after the wedding. They are planning a huge trip next year and needed more time to save up for it.

Thanks for the input everyone. I thought it was weird waiting so long to do the honeymoon since people usually fly out right after the wedding. Smiley heart

I know ours isnt as long as others, but we're waiting 1.5 months. A little cheaper and wanted to recover from planning and a wedding before leaving for 2 weeks

We got married in August, and went in January.

Go when you can, not when people say you should.

We are getting married and not taking a honeymoon until June or July of the next year. We are waiting until we both can take a break from work.

There's literally no time frame between when you can go on your honeymoon after your wedding. Some people go a whole year afterward. It's just based on when you're ready and able.

I didn't think there was a time frame so I think your time frame is fine. My SIL went on a honeymoon a year and a half after her wedding. They wanted to save more money after they bought their house. Totally up to you guys.

You can go whenever you want.

We had friends get married in June 2018 and go on their honeymoon this December. Another couple got married March 2018 and they still haven't gone on their honeymoon yet and are planning to go in 2021.

Our wedding is this May and we haven't even thought about honeymoon plans yet. We'd rather focus our time, energy, and money on the wedding. Once all of our wedding bills are paid and we know how much money and vacation time we have we can start planning what we want to do for a trip.

Yeah I'm thinking that that is what we are going to do. I won't start planning the wedding until January 2021.

Our wedding is also in Oct. 2020, however, we probably won't leave for a honeymoon until Spring/Summer of 2021. We will have to build up money yet again, in the meantime, plus it serves as a great reason to get away... Smiley smile

    Yes

I'd say that its best to do what you can. Don't stress it. The most important thing is you and your husband to be being happy and comfortable. If you cant do it soon..do it later. At least you got to treat yourself to a honeymoon.

We're doing exactly the same thing. We're getting married this October and we'll be going on a mini-moon right around that time, then we'll go on a proper honeymoon the following year. We'll need the extra time to save and space out the time we'll be taking off of work.
