Wedding in December 2019 and just found out I'm pregnant

Briana, on July 20, 2018 at 6:58 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 12
Me and my fiance are planning on having our wedding in December of 2019. We booked our venue and have our DJ and put a lot of deposits down for our big day. Turns out I'm pregnant now so I would be due around March 2019 which would give me 8 months or so before the wedding. The only thing I'm worried about here is money at this point. Were any of you able to pull off having a big wedding and have a baby around the same time? I'm willing to cut costs where I can for the wedding but I just don't want to lose thousands that we already put down for everything. Help? Words of advice? I'm freaking out a bit. If all else fails I'll just suck it up and lose out on deposits but I would like for that to be a last resort.

Hi Briana, I agree with your thoughts of scaling down where you can now (maybe cut down the guest list, do some diy for decor, and cut down on other non essentials at your discretion). When you have the baby you can always assess what things you might be able to add back on. You could also consider other cost saving ideas like changing the day or time (still in December) of the wedding if your venue allows it/your other vendors are available.

It's definitely still doable. Just cut costs where you can and save save save now. Maybe consider making the big wedding a smaller wedding. That will save a ton on food. There are lots of posts on here where brides talk about what they did to get things in a lower budget. The BAM's are a great resource for that as well.

It’s doable, this happened to one of my friends and her budget was TIGHT but she still made it work. You have a lot of time so I think setting a realistic budget would be key. Maybe your budget can be what you can afford to pay off before the baby comes. So about 8 months worth of savings/payments. Most of all don’t stress!! These are two very exciting moments in your life. I wish you all the best luck! And congratulations on your engagement and baby :-)

First off congratulations!! You can do it, just cut the guest list. I makes things easier to plan and saves you money and stress!

The biggest things are if you have savings separate from a wedding budget and if you have healthcare. Babies are expensive but as long as you have savings it should be doable. You can coupon for diapers and wipes and get them extremely cheap. You can shop sales for baby clothes and items. It’s possible

Congrats!! (Both engagement & baby 😊) It can be done! I had a friend who had her baby, was in school & planned her wedding. I’m sure it wasn’t a cake walk lol but I don’t think it has to be a stressful thing. Save now, cut your budget on things that are less important to you..& i agree you may want to consider scaling down the list a little.

I opted to NOT have a wedding because we found out i was pregnant. Financial reasons (it was well we pay for the wedding OR we buy a house) and also I didnt want to be pregnant in a white dress and i wanted to party at my wedding. Your pregnancy might be smooth sailing or it might be tough. You never know. Add to that exhaustion and crazy hormonal emotional up and downs, add stress of wedding planning and budgeting... It is doable and i am sure you will have plenty of support! So if you decide to go for it - im sure it will be just fine!

Some venues would let you move the date - so why not move it a year? that way you wont loose your deposit $$$

Just wanted to give an update to everyone! My baby girl is 10 weeks old and we're planning on having her be one of the 2 flower girls. I'm so happy that I didn't cancel the wedding because it looks like everything is going to work out. It's been tough but doable. Looking forward to our big day!
