Wedding in 50 Days and Only One Bridesmaid Has Their Dress

Emily, on September 22, 2023 at 10:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Im trying not to be too stressed about this but I cant help it! My wedding is Nov 10th and only one bridesmaid has their dress on hand. The others havent either ordered yet from Azazie or its lost in mail. It upsets me cause the girls knew about the wedding for a year now my color selection and allowed them to choose any dress style off the site! Just order it!!!

Anyway, what can I do? How do I move on from it and hope their dresses arrive fittingly and on time?

Aside from having them shipped overnight and pray that no one needs any alterations, there really is nothing that can be done. Unless you live in a major city with a fashion wholesale district that sells dresses in all sizes off the rack and again pray that no alterations are needed.

I would be anxious too. Why the procrastination from your bridesmaids? Have you spoken to each one individually? If they don’t have a dress, it is going to be very awkward for them to be in your bridal party. Are you willing to compromise on what else they could wear? Truly, the obligations of the bridesmaids are to get a dress and stand alongside you at your wedding. I would be feeling pretty upset if I was you. Is there anything you can do to spur them into action?

I would be anxious as well but I did look on Azazie and it looks like with standard shipping the dresses would arrive between October 12-18 if they ordered now. I would message the girls and tell them it is extremely important they order their dresses soon otherwise they won't be able to be in the wedding.

Is this just procrastination? Are they all okay with the style of the dresses you chose? Do any or all of them have some other preference what to wear?

Do the dresses fit the budgets of each woman? What do you mean by "lost in the mail"? That seems more concerning.

I agree the timing seems tight at this point, I mean if they don't have the dress then I guess they attend as guests.

I was a bridesmaid recently and the bride used Azazie. The dresses came surprisingly quickly, and one girl needed to send it back and get a different size and the exchange policy was quick and easy. So as of now there is definitely still time for them to arrive and get alterations if needed!

As for the ones who haven't ordered- they need to do it heckin now!!!! Have a conversation, set a deadline, and let them know you're stressed about it. This is your big day and something like this should not even be a concern!!

Definitely see if there is any reason they have not ordered yet. Budget? Forgot? Sizing? At this point they should have figured it out but walk them through the steps and help them figure it out if that is what it takes

Omg its been ridiculous, two of the girls wanted to lose weight...and I'm like NO its too late for that. You won't magically lose a dress size in a matter of a month at this point. They been saying this since Spring and of course neither lost any weight. I told them its not about them or their weight, i understand you want to look and feel good but literally no one cares what you look like...its about me!

My MOH ordered her dress 8/9 and Azazie said it was delivered, and she said she never got the package so she had to start a claim with them which takes weeks to resolve apparently so she just had to buy everything all over again and its being shipped 10/3.

Im still very anxious! I did speak to the girls who dont have their dresses and pressed how insanely stressed I am and that I don't understand why they waited this long. If anything goes wrong with the dress they get in the mail I'll be very upset because they didnt think to put time or effort into this. Being a bridesmaid should be fun, picking out the dress is the best part so I dont get it! If their dresses dont fit then they don't walk I guess. I dont have time or patience to worry about them going to Macy's and finding some homecoming looking dress. They had one job and could potentially fail it!

Yes. That is very disappointing. I am sorry they are not taking this seriously. I would feel hurt, but I guess there is only so much you can do. I sure hope it works out!

You know what? You really can’t micromanage them. They are grown women who are responsible for getting the dress on time. As long as they know what the shipping times and expedited delivery fees are and that there have been some problems with delivery it’s out of your hands.

I would not kick anyone out of the wedding party on this basis, either, but that’s me.

Thank you Peyton, and for validating my feelings...I think thats what I really wanted to hear that I'm okay to feel upset about this. I know I'm the only (well my fiance too) that will ever care this much about my wedding day, to most others its just another wedding.

Emily, I know I would feel really disappointed. There is a minimal effort required to be a BM and your friends haven’t really even met that yet. I know this day may not be important to them, but it is important to you and you are depending on them. When something is important to my friends or family, it is important to me. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the norm anymore. I would do my very very very best to accept that your bridal party may be smaller than originally planned and not worry about it. It is still going to be wonderful!

I am so sorry you’re experiencing this. I would be anxious and upset as well. Try not to let it get to you, hope that things work out, and stay focused on you and your FH.
