Wedding gown neckline alteration question

Jackie, on February 27, 2017 at 11:08 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I am so confused! I picked my dress yesterday and once I came home and looked at the photos I realized the v neck is a little too overwhelming on me! I'm curious if anyone has any v neck alteration photos or tips? I am thinking of asking them to soften the line a bit? Not sure what to do! I feel like it it too straight of a line Smiley sad

    Gorgeous dress!

My dress was also a v-neck, and that was the first thing both seamstresses wanted to alter. In the end, I closed the bottom gap by about 1/2". It still had the neckline I loved, but it held me in a little better, was a bit more modest, and no one was any the wiser. When you're ready to have alterations, just ask your seamstress about it.

Pretty! I'm a busty gal but my dream dress has a deep v. I try it on in 3 weeks but if I get it I will eventually ask the seamstress if she can bring the neckline in a bit so it doesn't show as much cleavage. It shouldn't be an issue!

And I kind of want the opposite! I'm very petite so I feel like it's so wide I. Wondering if they can thin it out a bit!

If you feel it's too deep, You could have a small piece of lace or mesh sewn in to soften the neckline. I think it's beautiful

I didn't pick a v-neck, but I did order from Casablanca. They have a great reputation for customizing their designs. I asked them to raise the point where my dress flares out (it's a mermaid) by and inch or two because I'm so short, and it was no trouble. It was even discussed at one point turning the dress I picked into an A-line because that was the silhouette I thought I wanted (though, I'm glad I decided I fell in love with the dress because it was a mermaid). My point is, Casablanca should be able to handle altering the neckline on your dress to whatever you want it to be.

I was entertaining the idea of a dress similar to yours and the seamstress said we could 1) make it less of a V with fabric 2) make a removable insert which I could wear for ceremony and remove for more "flirty" look during reception.

I'm sure you can resolve the issue Smiley smile

    Ps: beautiful dress!

I don't have pictures yet, but my seamstress added a modesty piece to my neckline. I like a good v-neck, but it was a bit much for a wedding dress.
