Wedding gift to my future husband on wedding day?!

Katie, on March 1, 2018 at 4:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Okay y'all- When my best friend got married, her and her husband exchanged gifts and a little note while we were getting ready. It was super cute because she had a messenger deliver his gift to him and vice versa. The videographers also caught it on cam and taped her reading the letter aloud from him. Does everyone do this?! Obviously, I know we can do whatever we want because its our wedding day.. But just wanted to take a poll! We are not having a videographer so that part doesnt matter to me.. He is a huge Georgia fan so I would probably get him a sports hoodie/pullover, something like that. I have seen on pinterest other brides getting their hubby's watches and things of that sort..

Thanks in advance for the help!!! Smiley smile

We didn't exchange gifts, we aren't gift givers. I did get my H a card that I have to him straight away when we woke up on our wedding day. I didn't feel the need to get it captured since all the videos seem overly staged to me.

I think it's pretty common but definitely not necessary. I plan on getting my FH a really nice watch since I got such a nice piece of *bling* Smiley diamond when he proposed. Most of my friends have done this in some form or another.

We skipped the video wasnt priority for us. In the beginning we said no gifts that the wedding was a gift. Well me being who i am and knowing our anniversary was the day before the wedding i decided to get fh a gift that is technically for both. I know the few weddings i have attended and the ones i have planned it depended on the couple . if you want to i see no reason not to even if its a letter or a token to have to remember the day. Its truly your choice.. Ps incase you wanted to know i got fh a bowling ball.. He enjoys that and is in a few leagues. So it fit.

Im getting fh marijuana lol he has serious back pain and he smokes to help it and standing up for the wedding is sure to hurt him so im getting a care package deal to help him relax and a different kind to help him get pumped for the party sone might not agree to the method but i dont care. We decided gifts and a note will help ease our nerves.

I definitely think its a cute idea. I am planning on doing this for FH. He is my best friend and the love of my life so im planning on writing a few letters for him.
The first one was written when he proposed, the second for the wedding day, and last one will be for on our anniversary.

I've been writing in a journal DEAR FH letters for awhile now not a whole lot but I try to write at least twice a month . He doesn't know about this I plan to give it to him on our wedding day along with a pocket watch engraved with wedding date (he loves pocket watches) and I'll write a note the night before. Hope this gives you ideas ❤

We're pretty bad at saving gifts for the actual time you're supposed to give them (birthdays/Christmas/etc.) so we've already exchanged our "wedding gifts". But we do plan on giving each other handwritten cards that morning. We're most definitely not going to read them out loud to the videographer, though...our letters are just for each other.

We didn't exchange gifts, but we did write each other letters that we exchanged during our first look.

We exchanged letters and I loved it, but we were both too private and emotional to want to read them out loud for the videographer! Smiley shame

I like the idea of getting him some Georgia swag as well - you could do an embroidered flask or cufflinks with the Georgia "G"?

FH is staying in a hotel the night before the wedding that I luckily get to check him in to. I plan on leaving his favorite beer and hot wings in the fridge and then all his favorite snacks. Then I'll also leave a box that he is suppose to open on the morning of the wedding that will have some cute groom boxer briefs, socks, watch, wallet and a letter from me.

We aren't big gift givers either, so maybe a note or something like that for us. We haven't had this discussion at all, but if we do opt for gifts, I'd get him cufflinks with his moms picture on it. She passed away when he was 15.

We haven't talked about it but his love language is words of affirmation so starting on day 100 I'm keeping a journal of *100* days of our engagement, the last day will be the night before the wedding. Depending on how much I keep with it I might also do a "the first year we were married" journal for our anniversary.
