Wedding gift for your spouse

Chantel, on June 23, 2017 at 8:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

I was curious what everyone purchased as a wedding gift for their spouse? My FH has always been impossible to shop for. He's not into watches and I hear buying shoes is bad luck. A couple of weeks ago we went to the Louis Vuitton store and he showed great interest in a wallet. I'm heavily leaning towards this purchase and maybe adding a travel toiletry case as we're always traveling. I simply don't think this will be enough. My alternative is to book a trip for his birthday to a place he's wanted to visit, but with the wedding cash flow is on the lighter side. Then I thought about still buying LV, but also providing him with personal letters from me for 11 days which describes how I felt with him for each year. As you can see I'm all over the place.......le sigh.

I think the wallet and travel bag would be nice. The trip would be overkill IMO

In my experience, buying a guy something he has expressed he wanted or something practical is usually a winner, particularly when they won't buy it for themselves. For example, I will probably buy FH a replacement chain for the cross is bought him at the Vatican. The original chain was poor quality, the uderlying metal is exposed, so I'm going to invest in a nice solid gold one that will really last. He won't buy a new one because technically, this one isn't broken, but I know he wants a nice chain for it.

I think the wallet and travel bag would be great. LV also lets you monogram them too right? If you wanted to make it more personal you could do that! You could put a letter inside the travel case about how you can't wait to travel with him as husband and wife, or thanking him for traveling with you over the years.

Why don't you think the wallet and travel bag will be enough? My FH LOVES funny socks. Like it is ridiculous. I plan on getting him a few pairs because I know he will enjoy them, and he will use them, and it will remind him of our wedding when he does. I don't think there is a monetary "enough", this (at least to me) is definitely one of those "it's the thought that counts".

I got my FH a nice bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label. We are renting a beach house with 16 of our closest friends. We opted for no gifts because this week vacation is our gift, but i got a great deal. Lol

The wallet and travel case is enough. Anything else would be overkill.

We didn't do gifts. But I suppose you could say we gifted the honeymoon to ourselves.

I got a husband, he got a wife.

We have agreed on no gifts (we're getting each other, d'awwwww!), but I'm toying with getting him a flying lesson. He shocked the hell out of me by asking me to marry him, so I'd like to return the favor Smiley smile He's an aerospace engineer (I tell people he's a rocket scientist, even though he works on airplanes), so I think he would love it.

I didn't go all out for my fiance lol all the groomsmen got yeti cups with their names on them... he got them same. He didn't go special for me either.. I got my girls monogrammed water bottles and I purchased an extra and that's my gift to me from him. We're simple people lol

I think the travel bag is perfect, especially since he could use it on your honeymoon!

Have the wallet embroidered with his initials might be a nice extra touch?

I purchased a steel drums and ukulele duo to play for the pre ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour, as a surprise to my DH. You don't have to go all out. If he mentioned he wants something specific, that's the perfect gift.

I think the wallet and travel bag are great! I'm not going huge for his gift. I had cuff links engraved so he can wear them on the wedding day then wear them after and think of the wedding day. Also going to write him a letter.

There's zero need to send extra money on a wedding present for your own spouse. Spend the money on your guests.

I think the wallet and travel bag is a good idea, you know him better than we do. My FH is more into sentimental things rather than physical so I did Boudoir photos and am getting an album made for him.
