Wedding gift for parents! help!

kristina, on October 12, 2014 at 1:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

I am trying to think of ideas for what to get our parents as wedding gifts. I would like to get them presents as couples rather then individuals gifts for the mothers and fathers. Something that is sentimental would be preferable but I an struggling to come up with ideas. What have other people done or seen others do for the parents?? All suggestions appreciated.

I'm the MOB and I told my daughter that I really don't want a gift. I feel it's an added expense that is just not necessary. The pride her and dad and I feel and the memories that will be made that day are the most precious gifts we could ever receive. Her dad feels the same.

KTSmom-that is so sweet of you! I hope your daughter realizes how lucky she is. Kristina, if you feel you must get them something, what about just a nice frame, engraved from you and your hubby? Have either engagement or wedding pic already in it. Check out ThingsRembered..they do BEAUTIFUL work.

We got personalized picture frames that we will add wedding photos to later. Check out the sub shoppe (I think that's what it's called) on Etsy. Their frames had some nice messages on them.

I'm getting them a photo frame with a wedding picture. They're on etsy and the frame says "thank you for raising the man of my dreams."

My parents are still married, their one and only marriage, and they are helping us with the wedding financially and emotionally. His mother is a single mom, father has never been in the picture, his mom doesn't like me and is on the crazy side of FMILs, so we will be doing two completely different things.

for my parents I'm getting them a reusable grocery bag (we have a running joke in the family about how there are never enough.. seems sully but its an inside thingSmiley winking ) inside the grocery bag will be a restaurant gift card, a movie & desert (popcorn or something), bubble bath, candles, and slippers for both. I'll also be giving them a note along the lines of "Thank you for all you have done, thank you for all of your help. You are truly appreciated and we love you! Now it's your turn to sit back, not worry about anything and RELAX"

I think they will love that more than anything I could spend $100 on. Because this comes from the heart.

As for his mother.. I have no idea.

We did picture frames as well. I drew them stick figures of us in wedding attire and said "we owe you one photo". They ate it up.

I did personalized embroidered handkerchiefs. I got a few ideas from etsy and made then more personal, my aunt was awesome enough to make them for me.

I'm pretty sure we're getting my parents a snowblower. Which probably isn't useful to you. I guess what I'm saying is usefulness should be a consideration along side sentiment.

Oh! We're also getting them a wedding album and a canvas of a family photo, post wedding.
