Wedding gift advice!

Cristina, on November 19, 2021 at 4:05 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 9
Hi everyone!
My husband (!!) and I got married October 30 and had a long honeymoon. Now we’re back and getting into writing thank you cards but we noticed a number of people didn’t get us gifts. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m trying not to be hurt by this so I’m hoping this is a common occurrence.

Thanks and congrats to everyone who just got hitched or is getting hitched 😊

We had a handful of guests not give us anything.

There were plenty of guests that didn't get us gifts, but yet we also informed everyone that we did not register anywhere because the only "gift" we wanted was for people to attend our wedding.
I will admit that I do not understand why people get upset that they don't receive a gift from their guests....I'm guessing it might be due to my husband and I being in a different stage and part of life.

We had a decent number of guests who didn’t give us a gift or card, but we had a destination wedding so I expected it. My MIL and FIL didn’t even give us a card! Our thank you cards for those people just thanked people for taking the time to spend with us.

You should still send them a thank you card for at least showing up for attending your wedding Smiley smile Also welcome back from your honeymoon!!

We had a few not give a gift. Not a big deal! And I don’t think you need to write thank you cards to those who didn’t give a gift. At least, we’re not!

Gifts are always optional and guests have up to 12 months from the wedding day to purchase a gift they are planning to give one. It doesn’t mean they don’t love you.

Thanks everyone! I'm just not sure what the etiquette was and was still planning on sending a thank you card regardless. but this has put things in perspective for me so thank you!

Same! For the people who didn't give us a gift we didn't send a thank you card either. We told everyone the night of the wedding thank you for coming and celebrating with us, but I don't think a thank you card is necessary.
