Wedding Food!!

Ruby, on August 6, 2019 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

My catering for my guests has been the easiest planning food part of my wedding lol - we're doing BBQ (which I've been hearing is over done but I've never been to a wedding with it so oh well)

Our rehearsal dinner we're just gonna order pizza to the venue - it's in the middle of no where & we set up some stuff that night so I'd rather not leave

Breakfast for the girls I was going to do Chick-Fil-A (I'll pick it up around 6:30am) & then I wasn't sure what to do for lunch. I know the biscuit usually fills me up a decent bit so I don't want to eat too much for lunch but I also want something so that I'm not starving by the time it's time for the ceremony - at 2pm

I'm not sure if they boys will have the same thing or different, I don't even know when I'll tell my fiancé he can come to the venue lol

I'm planning on lunch from McAlister's deli. A little grilled chicken and salad to get me thru the wedding and keep me going til dinner. Not too heavy that I'll feel blurgh, not too light in case of the hangries.

We did bagels and cream cheese and fruit for breakfast, and then the venue had fruit and cheese in the bridal suite that we snacked on as a lunch. The ceremony was at 5pm, with cocktail hour immediately after, so lunch was more of a snack.

We are planning on having some bagels and fruit in the bridal suite, then doing a Subway platter for both the girls and guys (each will have a separate one).

I think BBQ is fine for a more casual wedding, I don't think it's overdone. We had Panera for lunch, everyone got their own soup/salad/sandwich. You could get a pre-made sandwich tray from the grocery store, and a fruit & veggie tray?

I just went to an afternoon wedding where they had BBQ catered in and it was beyond yummy. I am just glad you are planning on the food - too many brides forget to eat!!!

I am also doing BBQ. I have never heard that it was overdone. But if someone feels that way then they clearly don't love BBQ like I do!

We tried the BBQ place close to our venue before going with it. And OMG. I hope someone is kind enough to make me a plate of the appetizers for our cocktail hour!

For lunch, maybe pick up a veggie tray, a meat and cheese tray, some crackers and fresh fruit from your local grocery store. That will be light but will give you the calories you need to get through the ceremony.

All of us went out for brunch and then had meat and cheese and fruit to snack on until our 6:30 ceremony! And bbq is amazing and totally works for a fun casual wedding!

I'm hoping someone makes us a plate of appetizers too!!
Every time I tell someone who's catering the wedding they're so excited because they've either heard about or tried the restaurant that's catering! So hopefully no one feels it's "overdone"

I’m doing BBQ for our reception too. And if it’s overdone that’s news to me. Oh well. If it’s too ‘overdone’ for someone to eat they can go hungry.
