Wedding Favors

Deidra, on November 6, 2020 at 12:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

My budget is getting tight. With everyone's Save the Date, I'm giving them a magnet with our picture & our date. Beyond small bags of candy, isn't that a wedding favor enough?

Favors are never required and always get left behind, even the edibles. What you are giving with a fun party and good food is plenty.

I think that's more than okay. While your guests probably won't see the magnet with the STDs as a wedding favor, the candy bags is still fine. From reading posts on this forum with similar topics, most people have stated that favors are often looked over at the weddings they have attended and most guests will forget to even grab a favor before leaving.

The weddings my FH and I have attended have all had favors and I can honestly say that no one forgot to grab a favor lol. So I think it also depends on your area, and the people you invite! We're getting drink coozies custom made, and we will also have a 'doggie bag' table with bags of dog treats for our guests to take home to their pets! (we love our dog, and the majority of our guests have pets as well).

If your doing a favor, candy bags is a great choice!

Wedding favors aren't required. The candy bags will be fine! I wouldn't count a Save the Date as a favor though.

My sister did little heart shaped magnets with her & her husband's name on it. I'm doing similar & giving a magnet with our picture on it with the Save The Dates, but the magnets themselves are not Save The Dates. Simply reminders on their refrigerators.

I think those work great! Wedding favors are certainly not required, so if you're looking for things to eliminate to help ease your budget, favors can be the first thing to be cut.

Yes, I think that's more than enough. Favors often get left behind.

No favor at all is fine. The only one people usually touch is food or drink. Candy will be fine. But if you want to save the money toward a dessert or appetizers, no one misses favors because most people do not do them any more. If you are planning but have not done Save the Dates yet, that is another area you can save on. They are a new invention, and before them, and many since, Anyone who needs advance information can be told, or get it bt email, phone call, ail, or info in another letter like a holiday card. If you already took pics but have not made magnets yet, Pictures are nice on the blank note cards or paper that you use for Thank you cards. There have been so many commercially promoted add ons that are not at all necessary. Things like proposal gifts, robes or shirts for getting ready, gifts for parents, are not at all traditional, except photos given to parents after the wedding. The invitation, even if formal, can be preceded by an informal notice.

I've done engagement photos, Save the Dates & the magnets. Almost feels like one good turn deserves another with actual invitations.

Good to know about what's traditional & what's not!

I would not consider the magnets to be favors, but you can skip favors entirely if it's not in your budget.

Um definitely. Favors are not requirements. Most of the ones I have received at weddings, I have never used.

Wedding favors are completely optional. Candy is an excellent favor, but you don't need to have favors to begin with if you don't want to

No favors needed at all! I'm the one who will leave non-edible favors behind; I don't need another bottle opener, bar of soap, shot glass, or koozie. My favorite favor was my cousin's locally made caramels, but even that was not needed.

Here's a cute idea, we have purchased candles from the dollar tree and made a custom sticker on each that says "light with us on our one year anniversary" it costs about $1.35 each including the box and ribbon.

    Hope this helps.
