Wedding favors

Hey brides!
My wedding has been postponed from this August (2020) to June 2021 and with the extra time I’ve been changing some of what I had originally planned, but a little stuck on the favors. Our wedding is overseas where I was born/raised so we are limited on what we can travel with and sending things ahead would cost a fortune so regarding favors we are picking up locally made soap/candles and bringing some sweet treats to throw into gift bags, however I’m unsure if preparing a gift bag is the way to go now. Should we A) have things out on a table with a sign saying please take one of each, and having the gift bags available for them to put them in themselves or B) preparing the bags and putting things in them ahead of time with the bags out to grab after the reception? I’m trying to find affordable bags that don’t look like dollar store bags, but am finding nice ones to be rather pricey. The soaps and candles are wrapped in local handmade paper which is gorgeous so won’t look bad left out on a table. Would consider “welcome” bags instead but everyone is staying at different hotels/arriving at different times and I fear people may miss out since I won’t be available on the day to make sure things run smoothly since I’ll be getting ready. Any advice is welcome!

I think if the soaps are already packaged nicely then you can leave them as is

You could put one at each place setting on the reception tables and people can get them when they sit down, or group them with the escort cards (if you're doing escort cards)! If you decide you want them each in a bag, check on Etsy or also on Oriental Trading Company, you may be able to find nice bags in bulk for cheaper.

Since you're asking about the best way to do things "now," I'm guessing you mean because of covid. In that case, I'd say it's better to put things in bags ahead of time, because that means fewer people have to touch each item.

I'd pre-pack them so no one misses anything (or takes too much of something)! 😉

Also that way you won't have any guest back-up as they're grabbing their bags!
