Wedding favors that support charities?

esjayes1390, on January 10, 2018 at 2:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

I want to stay away from "donating to a charity in lieu of party favors..." BUT think it would be sweet to give a favor that actually donates a good portion of their profits to a charity. Sounds like a win-win. For example, Truffles for a Cause donates a small amount of your sale to a charity, and L.A. Burdick Chocolates donates 100% of the sale to saving African Elephants . I'd like to know if anyone has heard of any other similar companies (i.e., a small favor with sales that donate sales to charity). Any others you've heard of? Thanks!

Trying to avoid just a donation. I think some people find it off-putting when people announce their donations in lieu of favors

I think this is better than Donating in lieu of favors because not everyone donates to the same charities. Honestly, i would rather give my own money, than someone donate in my name to a charity I don't support (very VERY personal opinion).

I can't give you any more ideas but I support this especially if they are edibles. But like all charities, do you research!!

I agree. Not trying to knock your idea, it is well-intended, but donating on someone else's behalf is a tricky business. I personally don't see the need for any favors but if you decide to have them I wouldn't associate them with a charity. Use the money you save to make a personal donation.

I really like this idea, but as PPs mentioned donations can be very personal so I wouldn't advertise that you bought from a company because they donate to a cause unless it's one that's very safe and not divisive, and just let them enjoy their favor for what it is - DELICIOUS!

I like the idea you have with the charity being part of the favor.
