Wedding favors / table snacks

Amy, on June 16, 2017 at 10:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Ok so I have two questions really...Are wedding favors a must? If so, economical suggestions? And my FH shares we need snacks sitting out on the tables for guests to munch on before we arrive. This might sound petty but as much as I'm not against the idea I don't want dishes sitting on my tables "ruining" my centerpiece. Thoughts?!

You don't need to do favors, especially if you are on a tighter budget. I would rather get no favor over a little bag of candy they sell in the wedding or party favor section of the store. I really dislike that candy and I bet most of it will be thrown away.

With the money you would have saved from favors, get light apps from your caterer, instead of having snacks and what not sitting on plates on the table.

Favors are not a MUST - but if you do do them, most people like something they can eat!

As far as "snacks" are concerned, they really are not necessary if you have enough apps during your cocktail hour.

Hi Amy! You can definitely skip wedding favors if you want!

Snacks on the table aren't necessary as long as your guests are sitting around and waiting for you guys to arrive. If you will be off taking pictures for an extended period of time (more than 20-30 mintues), then you should have a cocktail hour for your guests with drinks and appetizers!

Favors are unnecessary, but best if they are edible. Think chocolates.

Also snacks at the table can be nuts, Jordan almonds, those creamy mints...they could be at their own table even. I want to give my guests something for the cocktail hour.

Don't do favors if they are not edible. We aren't doing ones except for we are getting those really good buttermints with personalized wrappers... not really a favor though!

As for the snacks, you should have a cocktail "hour" where drinks and apps are served to fill the time you are taking pictures. We are doing 3 passed apps and 3 stationed apps just for variety.

We're doing 3 stationed apps and each guest gets a cookie favor at their place setting, I figure that's enough of a "snack" for cocktail hour and guests can either eat their cookie or take it for later.

I'm skipping wedding favors only because I've never got one that I actually remembered to take home. But we're definitely doing apps during cocktail hour.
