Wedding Favor: Stemmed Wine Glass

Gabby, on January 20, 2018 at 10:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
After a lot of back and forth my fiance and I finally decided on a wedding favor: a wine glass. My vote was for Stemless, he prefers the stemmed.

Has anyone given a wine glass with the stem as a favor? and if so, were you able to find individual boxes for them?

Thanks Smiley smile

Honestly, I would not take a single wine glass. And if I had to, stemless would be preferable.

As much as I like to have extra wine glasses around (less chance of breaking my sets) I would not want to bring this back with me on a plane, though stemless would be better to transport. Do you have a lot of OOT guests? Sorry to also not answer your question.

Horrible to travel with and people won't take with them. Don't waste your money.

I avoid these like the plague. Not that his was mentioned but they definitely should not have your names on them etc

Most adults want matching wineglasses, not odd sizes and shapes. Save your money and spend it on food or beverages.

We did brandy snifter glasses with custom engraving and our family and friends loved them. We are a wine and brandy drinking family and gave each adult a glass so they ended up having a set Smiley smile we used large Gable boxes from Etsy to pack them in and they looked beautiful. When it comes to favors, you have to know your crowd! Do what feels right for you and your family/guests Smiley smile

I think people on here hate too much on personalized favors. I would totally take a wine glass from a wedding. And if it turns out people don't want them then you just have extra glasses for your house Smiley smile

I'm also going to vote against doing a wine glass. I was going to do them myself but when I read about how many thoughtful, but non-edible, favors get left behind it started to change my mind. It wasn't really changed until I started figuring the expense.
I would pay a considerable bit for favors if I thought they would be enjoyed and appreciated, but I felt like the personalised glasses were ultimately about me and not my guests. I'd rather put that money into something that will be used and enjoyed.
Even after saying all that, though, it could just be my thinking and my crowd. Try using the glass as the receptacle for candy or an edible. Then you wouldn't need a box and people might be more likely to take them.

A set of 8 wouldn't be the worst thing but 20 or more would be a lot of extras and that's what is likely to happen.

Skip the favor or go edible or unscented consumable.

I thought about doing this, but FH told me i need to think of the kids at the wedding (his nieces and nephews), so we’re skipping it. At the very least if we do favors, we will probably just get those little to go boxes and have them with the dessert table for guests to take home as a midnight snack or something.

I considered this when I was going to do a bigger wedding—but was going to have them double as the glass people used all night for their drinks (not doing this). Between the two types, if I had to choose, I’d do stemless. And, maybe not personalized? Or, something I thought about was just a heart or a chalkboard heart where I could temporarily personalize. Orrrr, temporarily personalize with those wine markers. It IS a difficult favor to carry. I’d forego boxes and offer those padded bubble wrapper pouches and a bag....not at the tables but on the way out.

We just went to a wedding last year where they had wine glass favors and most of them were still on the tables when we left at midnight. Our friend called a few weeks ago and asked if we wanted a case because they had so many left.
