Since we are having such a LARGE wedding and reception we have decided to have a fundraiser to offset cost. My fiancee has a large family and we are avid softball players so we have decided to have a "Last Swing before the Ring Softball Fundraiser to help with wedding cost. Anyone having a fundraiser, garage sale, bake sale, or setting up a gofundme to help pay for your wedding?

This is one of the most horrible pre-wedding ideas I’ve seen on this site. Please, please, do not have a fundraiser for your wedding. That is so very gauche and if you cannot afford to have a large wedding, you will need to have a small wedding.

Let me just reiterate again how awful of an idea this is.

As soon as I read this I knew you were going to have s bunch of ppl completely opposed to this idea. Its unconventional and whenever something unconventional includes money ppl will look down on it. With that being said . . Its definitely a know your crowd type of thing. Its not like you are gathering random ppl from the neighborhood or blasting fliers everywhere for ppl to come help u pay for your wedding. If your close friends and family support you and the idea then go ahead. Just make sure everything you do is in good taste and nothing is greedy then why not. And the ppl who are opposed or ferl uncomfortable dont have to come.

Im doing something kind of similar but not really, but def unconventional. At my bridal shower I am having a Stock the bar raffle but its for the wedding reception. I have asked them to bring a bottle of Costco brand Kirkland sangria (something thats not too expensive or difficult to find) I clearly stated it on the invitation that its for the wedding reception so those who feel uncomfortable dont have to participate. But I have really cool prizes for the raffle winners. I dont think my family and friends will mind which is the only reason why Im going through with it. Definitely a know your crowd type thing + try to do things in good taste.
